About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Lead to design and build scalable, secure and highly available cloud infrastructure from the ground up.
You will lead a small technical team and work closely with Development, Product and Operations teams to improve our cloud architecture, deployment processes and production reliability. This role offers strong ownership of technical decisions and the opportunity to introduce new tools, automation and best practices across the organisation
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of scalable cloud infrastructure.
- Build new infrastructure and DevOps platforms from the ground up based on business and technical requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, providing technical guidance and hands-on support.
- Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software testing, deployment and release processes.
- Implement infrastructure as code and configuration management using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Build and manage containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Implement GitOps practices using tools such as Argo CD or equivalent.
- Work closely with Development, Product and Operations teams to improve the end-to-end software delivery process.
- Support cloud migration, infrastructure modernisation and platform improvement initiatives.
- Implement monitoring, logging and alerting to improve system performance and availability.
- Automate system monitoring, health checks, backups, deployments and routine operational tasks.
- Apply security controls and DevSecOps practices across development, testing and production environments.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment and production issues.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend practical solutions to improve scalability, security and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Proven hands-on experience designing and building cloud infrastructure, not only maintaining existing environments.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services and cloud architecture.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with configuration-management tools such as Ansible.
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or similar tools.
- Good understanding of GitOps practices and tools such as Argo CD.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Scripting experience using Bash, Python, PowerShell or a similar language.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or equivalent.
- Good understanding of cloud security, access management, governance and infrastructure hardening.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or providing technical direction to engineers.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Able to work independently, take ownership and introduce new ideas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS cloud migration or infrastructure-modernisation projects.
- Knowledge of microservices, Kafka and distributed systems.
- Experience with DevSecOps tools and security automation.
- Exposure to Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Relevant AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform or DevOps certifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
