Software Engineer (API Integration & AI Orchestration)

About the Role

Our client is a licensed digital payment solutions provider regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), operating in the fast-growing digital asset and cross-border payments space. Working under a platform-driven model, the company delivers an integrated suite of services encompassing over-the-counter transactions, fiat payments, digital asset custody, and prime brokerage to business clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a regulated fintech at the intersection of financial infrastructure and AI innovation, where your work will directly shape the reliability and intelligence of high-volume transaction flows across banks, exchanges, and payment networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain integrations with external financial platforms, including banks, exchanges, and payment service providers, by building reusable API connector frameworks and middleware components that support scalable partner onboarding

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, webhook handlers, callback processing pipelines, and integration services with robust error handling

• Implement secure API authentication and communication protocols, including OAuth2, JWT, HMAC, and RSA signature verification, to ensure safe and compliant connectivity

• Build intelligent smart routing and orchestration logic for payment and fund movement across multiple channels, incorporating factors such as API health, latency, success rates, cost optimisation, and liquidity availability

• Implement retry, failover, fallback, and resiliency mechanisms across partner channels to maintain high availability in production environments

• Support development and integration of AI-driven workflows for API monitoring, intelligent alerting, failure analysis, smart channel recommendations, and operational automation, including participation in Generative AI and Agentic AI initiatives

• Maintain API gateway capabilities covering authentication, access control, traffic management, rate limiting, logging, and observability, while building monitoring dashboards for transaction visibility and external API health

• Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Compliance, Infrastructure teams, and external vendors to support integration onboarding, certification processes, and production rollouts

Requirements

• At least 3 years of software engineering or backend development experience, with strong hands-on proficiency in REST API design, webhook integrations, API troubleshooting, and distributed systems integration

• Solid backend development skills in one or more of the following: Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, or Python, with good understanding of API gateway, routing, orchestration, or middleware concepts

• Familiarity with API authentication and security mechanisms including OAuth2, JWT, API keys, HMAC, and RSA signatures, alongside working knowledge of SQL databases, logging, and monitoring tools

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated industries, with an understanding of payment transaction flows, routing, reconciliation, or treasury movement (is a bonus)

• Exposure to Generative AI or Agentic AI technologies, LLM platforms and APIs, AI workflow automation frameworks, or AI-assisted development tooling (is a bonus)

• Familiarity with API gateway platforms, Kubernetes, AWS cloud services, or event-driven and microservices architectures (is a bonus)

• Mandarin proficiency is highly preferred to support communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and stakeholders.
