About the role

Excellent opportunity for a dynamic person to join a cable manufacturing company as a Procurement Manager in Kulim, Malaysia. The successful candidate will have experience in Inventory management and reduction, purchasing and MRP, supply chain management, and logistics. This person will manage buyers, shipping, receiving and inventory control personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and execute material planning, inventory management, warehouse and shipping/receiving operations.
• Plan, develop and continuously update the purchasing strategies and operation direction according to business strategies.
• Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
• Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
• Interview and hire staff and oversee staff training.
• Perform staff decision, training and coaching, and ensure all members within the team are well trained in procedures and/or instructions.
• Actively and aggressively pursue cost reductions, inventory reductions, and drives increase turns year over year.
• Direct physical inventory management activities.
• Maintain a material plan based on backlog, new customer orders, forecasts, inventory levels, minimum order quantities, and lead times.
• Determine material requirements from customer sales forecast, customer orders, production schedules and bills of materials.

About you

• Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of experience in the procurement field.
• Experience 5 - 8 years in procurement field in large or medium-size companies.
• In depth knowledge of current best practices in materials management.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Project or Program management experience.
• Proficient in WINDOWS and MS OFFICE.
• Experience using ERP/MRP or other systems.
• Knowledge of BOM management systems.
• Demonstrated experience working with a Lean manufacturing environment.
• Proven and extensive knowledge of cable, wires, and connectors suppliers.
