Head of Network Engineering

Our client, a leading global financial services organisation, is embarking on a large-scale modernisation of its technology stack and infrastructure. To support this transformation, we are seeking a Head of Network Engineering to lead the design, delivery, and evolution of the enterprise network across a highly complex and mission-critical environment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for the enterprise network engineering function, ensuring resilience, scalability, and security.
• Drive the modernisation and transformation of network services to support cloud adoption, hybrid connectivity, and a next-generation infrastructure model.
• Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of enterprise-wide network solutions including LAN, WAN, data centre, SD-WAN, cloud networking, and network security.
• Partner with technology and business leaders to ensure network capabilities align with organisational priorities and regulatory requirements.
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of network engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence.
• Oversee vendor partnerships and evaluate emerging technologies to ensure best-in-class tools and practices are adopted.
• Establish enterprise network standards, governance, and processes, ensuring reliability and compliance across a global environment.

Key Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in network engineering and architecture within large-scale, complex enterprise environments (preferably financial services or other highly regulated industries).
• Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Deep expertise in enterprise networking technologies including routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, SD-WAN, and cloud networking.
• Strong understanding of hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integration with on-premises networks.
• Knowledge of network security frameworks, regulatory compliance, and best pract
• ices.Strategic mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver large-scale transformation initiatives.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
