Senior Solution Engineer (Mechanical / Electrical)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Solution Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of engineering solutions across mechanical and/or electrical disciplines. The ideal candidate will play a key role in tender management, solution design, cost estimation, vendor coordination, and technical consulting while supporting project execution and customer engagement.

This role requires a strong engineering background, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technically sound and cost-effective solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

Business Development & Customer Engagement

• Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, workshops, and solution presentations.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and business partners.

• Provide technical consultation to support business development activities and solution recommendations.

Tender Management & Technical Proposals

• Review tender documents, technical specifications, and project requirements.

• Identify project scope, technical risks, and compliance requirements.

• Prepare technical proposals, compliance matrices, and engineering documentation.

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate tender submissions.

Solution Engineering & Design

• Develop engineering solutions based on customer and project requirements.

• Prepare system designs, equipment selection, engineering layouts, and technical schematics.

• Perform engineering calculations and ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

• Recommend optimized and value-engineered solutions.

Site Survey & Technical Assessment

• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new and existing projects.

• Evaluate technical constraints and provide practical engineering recommendations.

• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors regarding project scope and site conditions.

Bill of Materials (BOM) & Cost Estimation

• Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and cost estimation sheets.

• Perform equipment sizing and quantity calculations.

• Support budgeting, value engineering, and cost optimization initiatives.

Vendor & Supplier Management

• Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers and subcontractors.

• Obtain technical and commercial quotations from vendors.

• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and technical compliance.

• Develop and maintain a reliable vendor network for project requirements.

Project Support & Handover

• Conduct technical handover sessions with project execution teams.

• Provide engineering support throughout project implementation.

• Resolve technical queries, RFIs, design clarifications, and engineering variations during project execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Support Sales, Project Management, Operations, Procurement, and Maintenance teams with technical expertise.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Solution Engineering, Proposal Engineering, Tender Engineering, or Project Engineering within an EPC, M&E, Industrial, or Engineering Solutions environment.

• Strong experience in tender management and technical proposal preparation.

• Hands-on experience in engineering design, equipment selection, and system solution development.

• Experience preparing Bills of Materials (BOM), cost estimations, and engineering calculations.

• Knowledge of engineering documentation standards and project specifications.

• Experience managing suppliers, subcontractors, and vendor negotiations.

• Strong customer-facing, communication, and presentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering design/documentation tools such as AutoCAD or equivalent software is an advantage.

• Willingness to travel for project meetings and site support when required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in regional engineering projects across Southeast Asia.

• Knowledge of value engineering and cost optimization techniques.

• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical discussions.

• Familiarity with engineering standards, compliance requirements, and project documentation.
