The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a specialised trading technology team responsible for building low-latency execution systems at the core of the firm's trading infrastructure.

This is a highly technical role focused on designing and developing scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems capable of processing large transaction volumes with millisecond-level performance requirements. You will work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and risk teams to deliver technology solutions that directly impact trading outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance trading system components using Java.
• Architect scalable and resilient distributed applications supporting real-time trading workflows.
• Drive improvements in system performance, latency, throughput, and reliability.
• Lead technical design discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues within mission-critical environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience with Java.
• Strong expertise in multithreading, concurrency, and distributed systems.
• Experience building high-performance, scalable backend applications.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system optimisation.
• Proven ability to work independently and drive technical initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within electronic trading, capital markets, hedge funds, investment banks, or fintech environments.
• Exposure to low-latency system design and performance optimisation.
• Experience developing fault-tolerant, business-critical systems.
