Job Summary
An MIS (Management Information Systems) Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing an organization's computer networks and IT infrastructure. This role ensures reliable connectivity, system uptime, and data security across the organization, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term IT planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless network infrastructure
• Install and manage network hardware: routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure minimal downtime
• Implement and maintain network security measures (firewalls, antivirus, access control)
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access (Active Directory / domain management)
• Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and data protection procedures
• Maintain and support IT hardware and software, including laptops, desktops, and printers
• Handle IT asset management, including issuance and clearance of equipment (e.g. laptop clearance for resigning staff)
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for staff (helpdesk support)
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software procurement, licensing, and maintenance contracts
• Document network configurations, IT policies, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and data protection regulations
• Support system upgrades, migrations, and new IT project implementations

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
• Experience with network hardware (Cisco, HP, Fortinet, etc.)
• Familiarity with Windows Server / Active Directory administration
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
• Knowledge of virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) is a plus
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• Good communication skills for coordinating with staff and vendors
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize IT support requests

Typical Qualifications

• Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field
• Certifications preferred: CCNA, CompTIA Network+/Security+, MCSA, or similar
• 1–3+ years of relevant experience (varies by seniority level: Junior/Executive, Senior, or IT Lead)
