We're partnering with a fast-growing data centre developer with an active pipeline across Southeast Asia to hire an Assistant / Mechanical Design Manager based in Singapore. This is a senior technical role within the Design Delivery function, reporting to the Engineering Lead. You'll own mechanical design across multiple concurrent greenfield and fit-out DC projects spanning regional metros - from Basis of Design through to construction drawing validation - with a strong focus on reliability, sustainability, and speed to market.
What you'll be doing
- Lead mechanical design delivery across multiple regional DC projects simultaneously, within budget and programme
- Develop tender and construction drawings, draft tender specifications, and conduct technical evaluations
- Review equipment specifications, shop drawings, and construction drawings to ensure design is well-coordinated, maintainable, and code-compliant
- Own design quality assurance from 30% through to 90% design stage and construction drawing sign-off
- Perform technical downloads to construction and operations teams and provide problem-solving support on site
- Drive authority pre-consultation and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Develop standardised construction methodology, inspection checklists, and material specifications
- Attend technical interviews with clients and vendors
- Design for next-generation AI workloads
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- Design experience in Data Centre / substation or other critical facilities is a MUST
- Working knowledge of both mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, power distribution, fire safety, BMS/ELV, backup systems, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, BOQs, specifications, and design documentation.
- Good communication and coordination skills to liaise with consultants, contractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Comfortable with on-site work including site inspections, safety compliance, and physical site conditions.
