Role: Network Infrastructure Construction Engineer

Contract: 1-year renewable
Role Overview
The Network Infrastructure Construction Engineer is responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing all IT infrastructure-related work packages for the hyperscale data center project. This includes structured cabling systems, network infrastructure, IT rooms/IDF/MDF setup, hardware deployment, system connectivity, and integration with MEP, ELV, controls, and critical facility systems.
The role ensures that all IT infrastructure works are executed according to project specifications, client standards, schedule requirements, and commissioning milestones. This position works closely with the PMC management team, specialist contractors, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Review
- Review drawings, network architecture diagrams, cable routing layouts, rack layouts, bill of materials, and technical submissions for IT infrastructure packages.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, hyperscale data center standards, and industry best practices.
- Validate structured cabling design, fiber and copper backbone configurations, and IT room design requirements (MDF/IDF/Server Rooms).
- Evaluate interface requirements with electrical, mechanical, ELV, security, and controls systems.
Construction & Installation Oversight
- Monitor contractors’ installation activities, including cable pulling, termination, patch panel installation, rack installation, and equipment mounting.
- Verify workmanship quality, cable routing management, labeling, testing, and documentation.
- Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to standards for cable bend radius, separation distances, tray utilization, and grounding.
- Support resolution of technical issues, clashes, and deviations during onsite execution.
System Integration & Coordination
- Coordinate integration between IT infrastructure and:
- BMS/EPMS systems
- Security systems (CCTV, access control)
- Controls and SCADA
- Mechanical systems (chillers, AHUs, CRAC/CRAH units)
- Electrical systems (switchgear, UPS, generators)
- Facilitate interface testing and ensure communication pathways are configured according to project requirements.
- Ensure cross-disciplinary alignment of IT room layouts, power supply requirements, cooling needs, and cable pathways.
Testing & Commissioning
- Support FAT, SAT, IT infrastructure testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review and monitor test results for fiber and copper cable testing (OTDR, Fluke testing).
- Validate network connectivity, rack installations, labeling, patching, and termination quality.
- Assist the Commissioning Manager in ensuring timely closure of IT infrastructure punchlists and commissioning documentation.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Review method statements, risk assessments, and installation/testing procedures.
- Track QA/QC inspections, checklists, test results, and material compliance.
- Ensure IT infrastructure as-builts, schematics, patching schedules, and asset inventories are complete and accurate.
- Support project handover documentation and client acceptance processes.
Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Participate in coordination meetings with IT contractors, vendors, and the PMC team.
- Provide technical recommendations, highlight risks, and escalate issues that impact design, progress, or quality.
- Work closely with the Construction Manager and Commissioning Manager to align IT infrastructure delivery with construction and commissioning timelines.
- Liaise with the client’s IT representatives to ensure all requirements are fully captured and executed.
Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Networking, Telecommunications, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure implementation for data centers, industrial facilities, or large-scale commercial projects.
- Strong understanding of:
- Structured cabling systems (fiber and copper)
- Network infrastructure and data center IT room setup
- Rack installations, patching, labeling, and testing standards
- Data center IT architecture and physical infrastructure design
- Familiarity with hyperscale or mission-critical environments is an advantage.
- Experience coordinating with MEP, ELV, controls, and commissioning teams.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure standards such as TIA/EIA, BICSI, and general data center best practices.
- Fluent in English and strong communication skills.
- Fit to work on a construction site and comfortable with extensive site coordination.
