Job Responsibilities

• Plan technical deliverables (including any system enhancements and upgrades) to meet project’s requirements within allocated budget and schedule.
• Plan & collaborate across different application teams to manage technical dependencies of the solution.
• Plan, monitor and manage risks/issues related to technical delivery.
• Provide status update related to technical delivery to Project Manager (PM)/ Program Manager.
• Partner with System Analysts, Functional Business Analysts and SME’s to collate, understand and finalize functional and technical requirements.
• Provide Systems input to specification phase (effort estimates, high level delivery plan) based on impact assessment etc.
• Partner with Development Manager in managing application teams to build the enhancements.
• Partner with Test Manager to ensure completion of System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), performance / load testing and application security testing with quality results.
• Prepare and manage technical implementation plan across application teams - coordinate technical implementation activities across application teams to ensure non-event production cutover and adequate post implementation support.
• Escalate issues that impacts project schedule on timely basis and propose workarounds/resolutions.

Experience

• 15–18 years of IT experience, including 5+ years in Solution / Enterprise Architecture, delivering large-scale payments or digital banking platforms.

Payments Domain Expertise

• Strong experience designing end-to-end payment architectures across:
• Card payments (issuing, acquiring, clearing & settlement)
• Real-time payments (FAST/PayNow/RTP/UPI-like systems)
• Domestic and cross-border payments
• Hands-on exposure to payment gateways, switches, hubs, and integrations with schemes and networks.
• Experience in payment standards such as ISO 8583 and ISO 20022, and high-volume, low-latency payment processing.
• Understanding of fraud, risk controls, reconciliation, disputes, and settlement.

Architecture & Engineering

• Proven experience with microservices and API-first architectures using REST/OpenAPI, DDD, and event-driven patterns.
• Expertise in API Gateway, BFF, and synchronous/asynchronous integration for digital and partner channels.
• Experience modernizing and integrating legacy/core banking and payments systems (AS400, COBOL, ESB) with cloud-native platforms.
• Strong backend engineering background (Java/Spring Boot preferred; .NET/Node acceptable) with ability to guide design and review code.

Scalability, Security & Reliability

• Strong understanding of scalability, resiliency, HA, idempotency, and performance tuning for 24x7 payment systems.
• Experience with payments security architecture, including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, mTLS, encryption, and secure API design.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements impacting payments platforms.

DevOps & Platforms

• Hands-on exposure to DevOps and cloud-native practices, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and observability.
• Experience with messaging and integration technologies (Kafka, MQ, ESB).

Leadership & Collaboration

• Ability to lead architecture governance, conduct design reviews, and mentor engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across product, business, compliance, and technology.
• Acts as a payments thought leader and trusted advisor.
