Under the guidance of the Engineering Department's Policies and Procedures, the Technician – Kitchen is primarily responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all kitchen equipment to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. The role also supports the maintenance of laundry equipment, plumbing systems, and general engineering works throughout the hotel as assigned, while maintaining the highest standards expected of a luxury hotel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of all kitchen equipment, including cooking, food preparation, refrigeration, and dishwashing equipment.
- Perform repair and maintenance of laundry equipment as assigned.
- Monitor the condition and performance of kitchen equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with kitchen personnel to respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests.
- Assist in the installation, replacement, and commissioning of new kitchen equipment and related utilities.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance of domestic hot and cold water systems, cooling water systems, storm and sanitary/sewer systems, irrigation/fountain water systems, swimming pool systems, and plumbing works as required.
- Attend to replacement or new construction projects, including GI, PVC, and cast iron piping, and fabricate necessary brackets and supports for installations.
- Repair or replace bathroom and toilet fixtures in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas when required.
- Clean manholes and clear sewage and stormwater line blockages using the appropriate equipment and tools.
- Carry out de-scaling of water systems as required.
- Assist with general repair and maintenance work throughout the hotel premises, including new installations, renovations, and extensions to the hotel or any other properties maintained by the hotel.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed and materials used.
- Report any unsafe conditions, defects, or potential hazards observed during the course of duty.
- Participate in the Hotel Energy Conservation Programme.
- Participate in the Hotel Emergency Response Team and Fire Brigade when required.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean and tidy after maintenance work, with tools and materials properly stored.
- Comply with the Hotel's Health, Safety, and Hygiene policies and procedures.
- Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while carrying out maintenance work in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer, or immediate supervisor.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment, preferably in the hospitality or hotel industry.
