Job description
- Maintain pure stock cultures of assigned microorganisms, including routine monitoring and subculturing to preserve culture viability, purity, and consistency.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate culture media for microbial growth and spore production.
- Design and conduct experiments to optimise spore yield, quality, stability, and production efficiency for different fungal species.
- Apply strict sterile and aseptic techniques, including aseptic transfer, streaking, inoculation, and plate preparation, to prevent contamination.
- Manage and monitor the scale-up of fungal cultures for pure spore production under control conditions.
- Harvest mature spores using appropriate techniques, such as scraping, washing, filtration, and separation, while maintaining purity and viability.
- Carry out routine production activities related to the preparation of pure fungal spores for use in finished products, including biofungicides and bioinsecticides.
- Conduct quality checks on spore concentration, purity, viability, contamination, and batch consistency.
- Prepare, label, store, and maintain records of spore cultures and production batches.
- Record culture conditions, production parameters, yields, test results, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Support process troubleshooting, production improvement, and the development of standard operating procedures.
- Maintain laboratory and microbial production equipment, work areas, and documentation in accordance with hygiene, safety, and quality requirements.
