Position Summary
The Logistics & Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for daily logistics and warehouse operations in the Malaysia plant. The role covers import and export execution, domestic transportation coordination, warehouse operation management, inventory control, SAP data accuracy and timely logistics documentation. This position ensures goods, materials and inventory are handled safely, accurately, efficiently and in compliance with company policies and trade requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
Logistics Operations: Import, Export & Domestic Transportation
- Manage daily logistics activities covering import, export and domestic transportation to support material availability, customer delivery and plant operations.
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transportation providers and internal teams to ensure safe, compliant and timely movement of goods.
- Prepare, review and maintain logistics, import/export and shipping documentation, ensuring consistency between physical movement, customs requirements, SAP transactions and financial records.
- Track shipment and transportation status, identify abnormal conditions, and drive timely resolution of customs, delivery, transportation or documentation issues.
- Evaluate transportation solutions and support logistics supplier performance review, service improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
Warehouse Operations Management
- Supervise day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, staging, issuing and shipping activities.
- Ensure warehouse processes are executed according to standard work, safety requirements, quality requirements and company policies.
- Optimize warehouse layout, space utilization, material flow, storage discipline and visual management to improve operating efficiency.
- Coordinate with production planning, procurement, quality, production and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability and smooth production flow.
Inventory Management & Accuracy
- Maintain inventory in good condition through proper storage, handling, preservation, identification and inventory control practices.
- Ensure inventory records are accurate by conducting regular cycle counts, stock checks, reconciliation and timely correction of discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory status, identify abnormal stock, damage, shortage, aging, mismatch or quality issues, and coordinate timely corrective actions.
- Support inventory reconciliation, financial audit requirements and continuous improvement of inventory accuracy.
SAP & Data Management
- Maintain accurate and timely SAP transactions for receiving, issuing, transfer, shipping, inventory adjustment and logistics-related activities.
- Ensure data consistency among SAP, physical inventory, logistics documents, customs records and finance records.
- Maintain logistics, warehouse and inventory master data where applicable, and generate regular KPI, inventory and logistics performance reports.
- Use data analysis to identify operational gaps, inventory risks, shipment delays and improvement opportunities.
Compliance, EHS & Risk Control
- Ensure import/export, logistics and warehouse activities comply with customs regulations, trade requirements, company policies and local requirements.
- Maintain complete documentation, traceability and record retention for import/export, logistics and warehouse transactions.
- Implement warehouse safety and EHS protocols to maintain a safe working environment and reduce operational risk.
- Support internal and external audits related to trade compliance, inventory, warehouse process and financial controls.
People Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead, train and motivate warehouse and logistics team members to achieve daily operation targets and follow company policies.
- Assign tasks, monitor team performance, build accountability and support capability development of the team.
- Drive continuous improvement in warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy, logistics cost, transportation service, SAP discipline and team productivity.
- Promote Lean thinking, 5S, visual management, standard work and problem-solving culture in logistics and warehouse operations.
Experience Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Warehouse Management, Business Administration or related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of logistics, warehouse, supply chain or inventory management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience in import/export operations, customs clearance, international transportation or trade compliance is preferred.
- Experience in domestic transportation coordination, logistics supplier management and shipment tracking is preferred.
- Experience managing warehouse operations, inventory control, cycle counting, material flow and warehouse team performance is required.
- Experience using SAP warehouse, inventory or logistics modules is required.
- Experience in multinational manufacturing company or new plant start-up environment is an advantage.
Skill Requirements
- Good knowledge of warehouse management, receiving, storage, picking, issuing, shipping and inventory control processes.
- Good understanding of import/export process, customs documentation, HS code basics, Incoterms and international/domestic transportation practices.
- Strong SAP transaction discipline and ability to maintain accurate and timely logistics, warehouse and inventory data.
- Strong inventory accuracy mindset and ability to drive cycle count, reconciliation, discrepancy investigation and corrective actions.
- Good analytical capability to prepare KPI reports, identify gaps and recommend process improvement actions.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with planning, procurement, production, quality, finance, customs brokers, freight forwarders and transportation providers.
- Strong people management, task assignment, coaching, problem-solving and execution follow-up capability.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, compliance-minded and able to work under operational pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; English communication ability is preferred; Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is an advantage.
