Company Description Tecgates Engineering is an EPCC specialist in bulk material handling systems for heavy industries, focusing on coal handling systems, ship unloaders, stacker reclaimers, and long-distance conveyors. The company serves major clients such as Black & Veatch, Perusahaan Listrik Negara, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Kuantan Port, YTL Cement, and Holcim-Lafarge, with project references across Malaysia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Romania. In addition to turnkey EPCC projects, Tecgates Engineering provides engineering and design services, contract maintenance, conveyor belt system technical audits, and parts supply or fabrication. Ongoing projects include a 2 km pipe conveyor system for the Langat 2 water treatment plant and mechanical and electrical services for Vale Minerals Malaysia. Tecgates actively collaborates with plant builders, engineering firms, consultants, and EPC contractors for bulk material handling projects in heavy industries.

Role Description The Mechanical Engineer will work on-site in Selangor, Malaysia in a full-time capacity, supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of bulk material handling systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing mechanical designs for conveyor systems and related equipment, preparing and reviewing CAD drawings and technical documentation, and performing calculations and simulations to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency. The role involves participating in EPCC project execution, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and supporting site installation, testing, and commissioning activities. The Mechanical Engineer will also contribute to troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives, as well as assist in research and development for new solutions and optimization of existing systems. Collaboration with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders is expected to ensure technical requirements and project timelines are met.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with experience in bulk material handling or heavy industrial systems.
  • Proficiency in Machine Design, including component selection, equipment sizing, and mechanical calculations.
  • Hands-on skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating and revising mechanical drawings and 3D models.
  • Ability to manage tasks within Project Management frameworks, including scheduling, documentation, and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Experience or interest in Research and Development (R&D) to improve system performance and develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; professional certification or registration is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices for heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work on-site in plant and construction settings.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
