Responsibilities

JOB SPECIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

1. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other equivalent fields.

2. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION/OTHER RELEVANT CERTIFICATION (PREFERRED)

  • Registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

3. WORKING EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in infrastructure or building construction, or related fields.
  • Proven experience as Manager specialising in the design and installation of mechanical and electrical services in high rise buildings, commercial complexes or equivalent.

4. KEY/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies and engineering design principles.
  • Well versed in BIM modeller or relevant software in regards to building and infrastructure design.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or relevant software.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and issues arising at site or contractual matters.
  • Ability to influence: Build value of preferred alternatives by relating them to others’ needs; respond to differing views by emphasizing value; articulate problems with undesirable alternatives.
  • Accountability: Take responsibility for outcomes (positive or negative) of one’s work; hold self and others accountable for reaching short- and long-term goals.
  • Delegation: Define and clearly communicate the parameters of the delegated responsibility, including decision-making authority and any required actions, constraints, or deadlines.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Deputy Construction Manager (M&E) is responsible for overall planning, management, coordination and execution of mechanical and electrical works. Ultimately, you will be managing the assigned projects by ensuring the adherence to the required specifications, budget goals and timeline.

  • Manage project planning and develop network scheduling and construction programmes for M&E works.
  • Develop Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design for turnkey and single package contracts, ensuring both authorities’ and employer’s requirements are complied with.
  • Monitor and verify design and engineering documents to ensure compliance with company procedures, engineering standards, and both authorities’ and employers' requirements.
  • Review design drawings, specifications and its provisions, and provide value engineering or alternatives to achieve superior services and methods of installation.
  • Identify and resolve clashes among construction elements, and resolve the issues jointly with other trades and project stakeholders.
  • Manage the performance and progress of subcontractors according to construction programmes.
  • Develop control strategies, plans, processes and procedures reflecting the company's objectives and the contractor's role and responsibility.
  • Develop and implement innovative and appropriate engineering solutions that align with strategic options in the best interests of the project and management.
  • Review and approve shop drawings submitted by contractors, as well as methodmstatements for relevant works.
  • Review the critical path and implement construction activities according to construction planning and management programme.
  • Provide technical support to the project team, liaising with owners, architects, local authorities, consultant engineers and other project stakeholders.
  • Monitor the implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards to ensure project comply with the guidelines as established by the authority.
  • Implement the 4Ms (methodology, manpower, machinery and material) in construction management and emphasise the contribution of time, cost and quality to the project.
  • Implement and coordinate inspection, pre-testing of system works as well as final system test and commissioning works.
  • Lead and guide the team members in carrying out their tasks and improving both their technical and soft skills.
  • Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned by the superior and/or the management.

Pay: RM7,500.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
