Reporting Relationship

The Learning Support Teacher (LST) reports to the Special Education Teacher (SET). The Learning Support Teacher is responsible for delivering structured learning support sessions, implementing intervention programmes, documenting student progress and preparing lesson resources while progressively developing the competencies required to become an independent Special Education Teacher

The Learning Support Teacher shall:

Organisation Tasks

  • Support the implementation of Cognitive's policies, procedures and operational standards.
  • Deliver individual and small group learning support sessions according to approved lesson plans and intervention strategies.
  • Assist the Special Education Teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain accurate coaching records, lesson documentation and student progress records in a timely manner.
  • Prepare teaching materials, lesson resources, worksheets and intervention equipment required for coaching sessions.
  • Prepare students' homework materials and ensure appropriate learning resources are issued after each lesson.
  • Observe and document students' academic, behavioural, communication and social development during intervention sessions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all student, family and organisational information.
  • Comply with Cognitive's Mission, Vision, Core Values and Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain a safe, organised and conducive learning environment.
  • Participate in programme improvement, research and professional development activities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Manager for Education or Special Education Teacher.

Student Coaching Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning support sessions according to approved lesson objectives.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching strategies appropriate to each student's learning profile.
  • Reinforce foundational academic, behavioural, communication and learning skills during intervention sessions.
  • Monitor students' independent work and provide appropriate guidance when necessary.
  • Encourage students to develop independence, task persistence and self-management skills.
  • Observe students' responses to intervention and report significant observations to the supervising Special Education Teacher.
  • Maintain a structured, safe and positive learning environment throughout all coaching sessions.
  • Support students in transferring newly acquired skills into classroom activities and daily routines where appropriate.

Documentation and Lesson Administration

  • Prepare lesson materials before each coaching session.
  • Prepare homework materials for students following each lesson.
  • Record lesson outcomes and student performance against the lesson objectives.
  • Prepare draft lesson feedback based on students' performance and lesson objectives.
  • Use approved AI tools to generate lesson summaries where required.
  • Review AI-generated outputs for accuracy and extract relevant information into the Lesson Objectives (LO) feedback template before submission to the supervising Special Education Teacher.
  • Update student records, coaching notes and intervention documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain proper filing and confidentiality of all student documentation.

Meetings

  • Attend all staff meetings, coaching meetings and departmental meetings.
  • Attend case discussions and lesson review meetings when required.
  • Participate in professional development and training sessions organised by the Centre.
  • Attend operational briefings and other meetings as assigned by Management.

Premises and Resources

  • Maintain coaching rooms in a clean, organised and safe condition.
  • Ensure teaching materials, learning resources and equipment are properly maintained and returned after use.
  • Use Centre resources responsibly and minimise wastage.
  • Comply with all Workplace Safety and Health requirements and Centre safety procedures.
  • Support the implementation of hygiene, infection control and workplace safety practices.

Pay: $1,856.53 - $2,500.00 per month

Work Location: In person
