IT Security Engineer (Microsoft Defender) – Role SummaryGeneral Responsibilities
The IT Security Engineer is responsible for providing Level 2 and Level 3 support for IT security incidents detected through the organization's security platforms. Working closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the role focuses on strengthening the company's cybersecurity posture by proactively monitoring, investigating, and resolving security threats while ensuring the effectiveness of security solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve IT security incidents while identifying and addressing root causes.
- Administer, configure, optimize, and provide ongoing support for the Microsoft Defender security platform.
- Monitor and respond to alerts generated by Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
- Perform digital forensics investigations for cybersecurity incidents.
- Participate in IT security projects and contribute to the design and implementation of secure IT solutions.
- Recommend and implement security improvements based on organizational security requirements and industry best practices.
- Ensure stable day-to-day security operations in collaboration with the IT Security team.
- Work closely with Digital, Platform, Operational Technology (OT), and Group Development teams to improve security processes and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in IT Security.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001/27002, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, or equivalent.
- Proven experience investigating and responding to cybersecurity incidents.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender, Elastic Security (SIEM), and Trend Micro Vision One is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Python and/or PowerShell scripting is an advantage.
- Experience in vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and digital forensics is an added advantage.
- Exposure to Operational Technology (OT) or Industrial Control Systems (ICS) security is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GSEC, or equivalent are highly preferred.

Work Location
- Subang Jaya, Malaysia
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–15 days per year as required.
