The Regional Performance & Recognition Manager is responsible for developing and driving the Compensation & Benefits strategy across the APAC region, ensuring alignment with overall business and talent priorities.

This role acts as a regional subject matter expert and governance lead, overseeing the design and effectiveness of compensation and benefits practices across all OpCos.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Duties

1. Compensation Strategy & Regional Governance

  • Develop and drive the regional compensation strategy and frameworks across APAC, ensuring alignment with business and talent priorities.
  • Establish and oversee job architecture, grading frameworks, and compensation philosophies, ensuring consistency across OpCos.
  • Monitor and benchmark compensation practices across OpCos, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead key regional cycles such as annual compensation review, merit increases, and incentive planning, ensuring alignment with regional guidelines while allowing appropriate local flexibility.
  • Provide strategic guidance and challenge to HR leaders and business stakeholders on compensation decisions, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness.

2. Strategic Rewards for Key Talent & Regional Roles

  • · Develop and drive targeted C&B strategies for key talents, critical roles, and regional positions, ensuring strong attraction, retention, and engagement.· Design differentiated reward approaches, including incentives, retention mechanisms, and long-term reward elements, aligned with business priorities.
  • · Ensure alignment and fairness in reward practices for regional or cross-border roles, balancing global consistency and local market competitiveness.
  • · Partner with HR and business leaders to support succession planning, leadership pipeline development, and talent retention strategies through reward design.

3. Benefits Strategy & Optimisation

  • Define the regional benefits strategy and guiding principles, balancing competitiveness, cost efficiency, and employee value proposition.
  • Review and assess benefits practices across OpCos, identifying harmonisation or optimisation opportunities.
  • Evaluate utilisation, cost effectiveness, and employee experience, and propose data-driven enhancements.
  • Provide advisory support to OpCos on benefits design, vendor strategy, and renewal decisions.

4. Performance & Recognition Framework

  • Develop and evolve regional performance management and recognition frameworks, aligned with organisational strategy and culture.
  • Review OpCo practices and identify inconsistencies, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Strengthen pay-for-performance linkage, differentiation, and recognition mechanisms across the region.
  • Promote a performance-driven and meritocratic culture through reward and recognition design.

5. Regional Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Establish governance standards and ensure C&B practices are aligned with regional frameworks while complying with local regulations.
  • Partner with legal and external advisors to mitigate risks related to compensation, benefits, and reward structures.
  • Maintain framework documentation and ensure audit readiness and policy governance.

6. Analytics, Insights & Decision Support

  • Drive regional analytics and insights across compensation, benefits, and performance practices.
  • Develop dashboards to compare OpCo practices and identify actionable improvement areas.
  • Provide forward-looking insights, cost modelling, and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making.

7. Regional Advisory & Business Partnership

  • Act as a strategic advisor and challenger to OpCo HR teams and business leaders.
  • Support organisation design, workforce strategy, and transformation initiatives from a reward perspective.
  • Identify systemic issues across OpCos and drive targeted interventions and improvements.

8. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide oversight on key vendors across OpCos (e.g., market survey providers, insurers, consultants).
  • Align with global Total Rewards teams to ensure consistency with global frameworks while reflecting regional needs.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits, including at least 3 years in a regional or multi-country capacity.
  • Proven experience in multinational organisations, with exposure to diverse markets and regulatory environments.
  • Experience in designing or evolving reward frameworks (e.g., job architecture, grading, performance-linked rewards) is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in compensation strategy, job evaluation, and market benchmarking, including familiarity with methodologies such as Mercer, WTW, or Hay.
  • Solid understanding of APAC regional benefits design, statutory requirements, and governance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to translate data and market insights into actionable recommendations and strategies.
  • Strong analytical capability, with proficiency in Excel and HR systems (e.g., Workday, SuccessFactors).
  • Ability to navigate complexity across multiple markets and balance global consistency with local realities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, challenge, and guide senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability in supporting talent strategy, including reward differentiation for key talent and critical roles.

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
