We are seeking a creative 2D Motion Designer to join our team at So Drama! Entertainment. In this role, you will create explainer-style and narrative-driven animation content for social media platforms.

With a strong eye for design and storytelling, you will translate ideas, scripts, and briefs into visual content – from illustration and character design to animation and final edit.

You will work across the full production pipeline, delivering high-quality output from start to finish using both creative and AI-assisted workflows.

This role is suited for a multi-skilled creative who is strong in animation and illustration, passionate in creating impactful visual stories, and thrives in a fast-paced working environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

a. 2D Animation & Motion Graphics

• Create high-quality 2D animations and motion graphics for digital content, including explainer-style videos and social media formats.
• Translate scripts, storyboards, and creative briefs into engaging animated visuals with strong storytelling.
• Apply motion design, transitions, and visual effects to enhance overall content quality and audience experience.

b. Illustration & Asset Creation

• Develop original illustrated assets, including characters, environments, and graphic elements.
• Adapt illustration styles to suit different content formats, brands, and target audiences.
• Ensure consistency in visual identity, style, and quality across all deliverables.

c. Video Editing & Post-Production

• Edit content to integrate animation, graphics, audio, and footage seamlessly into a cohesive video.
• Optimise content formats for different platforms and delivery requirements.

d. Content Development & Execution

• Collaborate with producers/writers/content strategists to develop visual storytelling approaches.
• Contribute to ideation and development of engaging content.

e. Voice-over Support (Optional)

• Ability to create voice-over recordings for video projects is a plus but not required.

CHALLENGES

• Ability to manage and deliver high-quality animation output under fast production cycle and tight deadlines is critical.
• You will handle multiple stages of production, including illustration, animation, and editing.
• You must be open to feedback and be able to adapt quickly to multiple iterations of briefs, and scripts, ensuring that stakeholder input is accounted for.
• You will need to be responsive to trends, formats, and shifting priorities across digital platforms, and recommend ways for these to be incorporated into our workflows and products.

REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Motion Design, Digital Fine Arts, Multimedia & Animation, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience and strong portfolio
• Proven experience in illustration, 2D animation/motion graphics and video editing
• Strong portfolio/reel showcasing illustration, 2D animation/motion graphics, and video products
• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop and Adobe Animate
• Experience in character design and basic rigging workflows
• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools and workflows for content creation and editing
• Solid understanding of animation principles, visual storytelling, and composition
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the scriptwriter/producer
• Awareness of industry trends and platform best practices
• Reliable, organised, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong ability to communicate ideas clearly
• Passion for storytelling and digital content creation
