System Engineer (Microsoft & VMware Specialist)
What We Need From You
- This role supports a client enterprise environment and requires comfort working in data centre and operational IT settings while adhering to client site policies and operational guidelines.
- Candidate must possess Microsoft Certified certification.
- Candidate must possess VMware vSphere Certified certification (VCP or higher).
- Provide comprehensive server infrastructure support services on-site at the client's data centre in Cyberjaya during regular business hours.
- Provide remote support coverage for other designated data centres and regional offices as required.
- Ensure uninterrupted support by arranging for a backfill in the event of your absence due to unforeseen reasons.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues related to physical servers, virtual servers, and VMware vSphere infrastructure (MS Windows Server, Hyper-V, VMware vSphere ESXi, VMware vSphere vCenter, VMware vSphere SRM, VMware vSphere VROps).
- Install, configure, and maintain approved operating systems and system software.
- Conduct hardware and software upgrades as required.
- Perform quarterly capacity analysis, monitoring, and planning report (server resource utilization).
- Perform quarterly health checks on servers and provide action and remediation plans on any findings.
- Provide 24x7 monitoring support for Tier1 – Tier3 servers.
- Assist to ensure completion of security-related tasks, including fixing, firmware or kernel upgrade, hardening and patching (2nd level support only).
- Perform capacity clean up (housekeeping) to ensure server capacity is below threshold.
- Perform task based on the client's ticketing system.
- Assist for new IT projects such as server deployment, migration services, integration to monitoring/infra tools, server IT security scanning, end-to-end testing and day to day operational work (BAU).
- Assist on automation of current process related to the operating system (scripting based on the case provided).
- Able to work with other suppliers and product principals to resolve any problem related to Windows and VMware vSphere infrastructure.
- Engage professional advisory services from product principals for system improvements.
- Maintain VMware vSphere optimal infrastructure state at all times.
- Ensure SRM replication is in-sync state.
- Ensure and maintain VMware vSphere farm resources.
- Perform fail-over and fail-back of VMs under SRM protection and provide on-site standby during Live4Run or Disaster Recovery pre-test as requested.
- Assist in server provisioning as required, including preparing and maintaining VM templates (Windows).
- Perform P2V (Physical to Virtual) as needed.
- Perform recovery of OS and system files whenever required and requested.
- Perform quarterly OS restoration and backup restoration testing.
- Assist in backup and restoration activities including Disaster Recovery (DR) activities.
- Perform VMware vSphere security patches or hot-fixes and version upgrades (ESXi, vCenter, SRM, VROps/Aria).
- Assist the patching team on patching activities for Windows security patches or hot-fixes (Level 2 support).
- Perform system driver and firmware updates when required.
- Verify, comply and document the operating system servers' security settings for all servers, including any exceptions or deviations.
- Test the new release of system service packs, patches or fixes before deploying in production environment.
- Maintain and update the latest system service packs, patches or fixes.
- Perform end to end operating system upgrade based on the requirements.
- Perform hardening based on the client's security hardening checklist guidelines.
- Analyse and review system related logs and perform server performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot, analyse, recommend and resolve operating system problems.
- Manage problem escalation process with software and hardware principals on any system or server issue.
- Maintain latest inventory and documentations of all servers' specifications and software installed on the server.
- Provide documentation i.e. PM report, problem reporting (RCA) and analysis report as per identified format.
- Review, document and enhance current security configuration.
- Support the related Windows server software such as IIS, Microsoft cluster, Active Directory and DNS.
- Support the related VMware vSphere software such as vCenter, SRM and VROps.
- Perform full image backup (bare-metal) of server before performing PM and before installing any patches or hot-fixes to the servers.
- The supplier shall provide the license software/tools and the storage/disk to keep the server image backup (2 copies for each server) for 1 year.
- Notify the designated supervisor in advance if unable to come to work due to unforeseen reasons.
- Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with local, regional, and group IT teams for problem resolution and escalation.
- Document support activities, including issue resolution and troubleshooting steps.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
What You Need To Do
Working Time Schedule
- Workdays: Monday to Friday
- Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Onsite Requirement: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Immediate Response)
- Standby Requirement: 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM (1 Hour Response)
- Weekend Standby: Saturday & Sunday, 24 Hours (1 Hour Response)
Deliverables
- Quarterly reports on server capacity analysis, monitoring, and planning (server resource utilization).
- Quarterly system health check reports with action and remediation plans.
- Monthly reports on incidents resolved, problem resolution, and ticketing system updates.
- RCA (Root Cause Analysis) reports for critical issues as per identified format.
- Inventory and documentation updates for all servers' specifications and installed software.
- PM (Preventive Maintenance) reports on a quarterly basis (4 times a year).

Pay: Up to RM6,000.00 per month
