We are looking for an experienced and strategic operations leader to oversee key non-clinical support services that drive operational excellence across one of Malaysia's leading private quaternary hospitals.
The Assistant Director, Operations provides strategic leadership across Food & Beverage Services, Hospitality & Support Services, Environment, Safety & Health (ESH), and SunMed Residence, driving service & operational excellence, financial performance, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness and service innovation to support exceptional patient, visitor and employee experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall operations of Food & Beverage Services, Environment, Safety & Health (ESH), SunMed Residence and hospital Support Services.
- Drive operational excellence through process improvement, Lean Healthcare initiatives, digitalisation and service innovation.
- Develop and execute strategic operational plans, departmental KPIs and performance metrics aligned with organisational goals.
- Oversee outsourced service providers, vendor performance and commercial operations to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, hospital accreditation standards (JCI, MSQH, ACHS), licensing and statutory requirements.
- Manage departmental budgets, CAPEX/OPEX, cost optimisation initiatives and operational sustainability.
- Champion quality improvement, patient experience, risk management and operational readiness for hospital expansion projects.
- Lead, coach and develop multidisciplinary teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospitality Management, Healthcare Management or a related discipline. A Master's in Hospital Administration is an advantage.
- Minimum 10–12 years' experience in healthcare operations, hospitality or facilities management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of hospital operations, customer service excellence, facilities and vendor management.
- Familiar with Malaysian healthcare regulations and accreditation standards including JCI, MSQH and ACHS.
- Proven experience in operational planning, financial management, process improvement and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills with the ability to drive organisational change and operational excellence.
