What you’ll need to bring to the role

Work that matters - What you’ll be doing

As a Senior ODS Engineer in Product Engineering, you’ll design, build, and operate customer-facing and internal platforms across—,APIs,

services, and data—primarily on the PHP and MySQL ecosystem and AWS Cloud environment. You’ll also help the team safely leverage

GenAI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Lovable) to improve delivery velocity, code quality, and developer experience, in

line with our AI governance standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

 Designing, coding, testing and installing applications programs up to 75% of the time, either in one major program or a range of

programs across multiple platforms

 Conducting design and code reviews, and providing advice and support of more junior members of the team

 Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining systems and program documentation

 Analysis and design of applications programs and databases

 Design and development of application enhancements and assistance with troubleshooting applications

 Liaising with, and providing advice to, business analysts to confirm/clarify business requirements

 Provide quality applications that are free of defects, fit for purpose, and designed for ongoing ease of support and maintenance

 Develop solutions that meet the security and privacy standards of illion

 Effectively communicate the status of development activities to the relevant stakeholders

 Working across teams and functions to ensure the ongoing health and performance of IT systems are maintained and enhanced

 Driving automated testing, enforcing SDLC controls, and secure coding practices.

 Using approved GenAI coding assistants to accelerate development without compromising security or privacy.

 Use approved GenAI coding assistants for boilerplate generation, test scaffolding, refactoring, and code explanations—without

compromising security or privacy.

 Experience designing or integrating LLM-powered capabilities (e.g., code assistants, RAG for documentation search, test

generation).

 Collaborating with product owners, designers, QA, platform/cloud engineers, and security teams.

 Consistently responding rapidly to high severity systems problems; resolving them quickly and effectively

More about you

 At least 5 years of experience in Programming and Applications Design, coupled with tertiary qualifications in Computer Science

or a related discipline.

 At least 5 years commercially proven experience in developing applications in PHP.

 At least 3 years commercial experience in developing applications using React.js.

 Developed knowledge of Object Oriented (OO) analysis and design, OO methodologies and techniques

 Developed skills and knowledge of one of the major relational database packages such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server or

Postgres

 Developed skills and knowledge of Python, Laravel, Code Igniter

 AWS knowledge and use in a business context

 Linux environments and Nginx knowledge

 Experience in using Selenium, Puppeteer, Playwright
