About the Role
We are seeking a Facilities Engineer / Senior Facilities Engineer to oversee facility operations while ensuring full compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations. This role is responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable facility systems, driving preventive maintenance programs, supporting engineering projects, and ensuring compliance with Malaysian regulatory requirements within a manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironment, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs in compliance with Malaysian OSHA, Department of Environment (DOE), and company requirements.
- Recommend and drive improvements to safety management systems, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, risk management, and workplace safety initiatives.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, workplace assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate and deliver EHS training programs to promote a strong safety culture.
- Review Job Hazard Assessments (JHA), Safety Risk Assessments (SRA), Process Safety Assessments (PSA), and work instructions to ensure appropriate hazard controls.
- Respond promptly to workplace hazards and incidents while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support equipment installation and qualification projects by assessing operational safety risks.
- Manage scheduled waste in accordance with DOE regulations, including documentation and regulatory reporting.
- Oversee chemical management activities, including storage, handling, usage, and disposal.
- Coordinate employee audiometric testing and maintain occupational health surveillance records.
- Develop, maintain, and execute emergency response plans, evacuation drills, and preparedness programs.
- Organize and facilitate monthly Site Safety Committee meetings.
Facilities Management
- Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of manufacturing facilities and infrastructure.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for preventive maintenance, servicing, and repair works.
- Manage facility maintenance budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining operational reliability.
- Ensure facilities comply with statutory regulations, building requirements, and industry standards.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs for utility systems, including:
- Compressed Air Systems
- Cleanroom HVAC Systems
- Ice Pump Systems
- Other plant utility equipment
- Monitor factory energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
- Coordinate hazardous waste collection schedules and ensure environmental compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Facilities Management, Maintenance Management, or a related discipline.
- Candidates with a Diploma and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum 1–3 years of working experience in facilities management, EHS, manufacturing, or a related environment.
- Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator (OSHC) certification is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian OSHA and Department of Environment (DOE) regulations.
- Experience in scheduled waste management, chemical safety, and environmental compliance.
- Familiarity with occupational health requirements, including audiometric testing coordination.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Additional Information
- Salary: RM6,000 – RM8,000
- Working Days & Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
