Job Description

Responsibilities

Is this your next challenge as a Data Platform Architect?

We are seeking a Data Platform Architect to design, build, and scale a modern data platform that powers analytics, AI, and business intelligence. In this role, you will mentor a team responsible for developing a robust, secure, and scalable data ecosystem, ensuring high availability, reliability, and efficiency of data processing. You will collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to enable seamless data access and insights across the organization.

The challenge is to:

  • Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Data Platform team, providing deep technical expertise and guidance on data cloud technologies.
  • Serve as the voice of authority for data platform architecture and solutioning, defining the technical strategy for large-scale infrastructure, storage, and processing.
  • Lead data platform stewardship, taking technical accountability for system performance, high availability (SLAs), reliability, and cloud cost optimization.
  • Design and architect scalable data ingestion, transformation, storage, and orchestration frameworks, ensuring systems are future-fit and resilient.
  • Drive platform governance by defining and enforcing standards for tool selection, data handling processes, security, and compliance.
  • Continuously research, evaluate, and integrate emerging data technologies, conducting proof-of-concepts to ensure the platform remains ahead of industry trends.
  • Establish architectural best practices for platform deployment, maintenance, and observability (logging, monitoring, alerting).
  • Champion a platform mindset by architecting internal tooling and common frameworks that serve as a force multiplier for all data platform users.
  • Provide technical mentorship to data engineers, elevating the team's engineering standards and design capabilities.

Do you have experience?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or data architecture, with a proven track record as a technical lead or architect.
  • Deep expertise in data platform design patterns, architecture solutioning, and building large-scale, high-throughput, low-latency systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platform technologies (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure) and cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Synapse, Databricks).
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a technical authority in data platform stewardship, including multi-tenant environment management and cloud cost optimization.
  • Advanced knowledge of orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster) and real-time data streaming/messaging systems (Flink, Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar).
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages (Python or Java), SQL, and scripting (Bash).
  • Expertise in working with both SQL and NoSQL databases to architect fit-for-purpose data solutions.
  • Strong practical knowledge of designing and implementing data system observability, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices, with experience enforcing these at an architectural level.
  • Experience driving Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and designing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines).
  • Solid experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong English communication skills, specifically the ability to articulate complex architectural trade-offs to engineering teams and business stakeholders.
  • High autonomy in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to independently drive technical strategy.
