FESDES Sdn. Bhd. is looking for an experienced Mechanical & Fire Engineer to join our team in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam. If you have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering and Fire Safety, this is your opportunity to be part of an exciting and growing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and specify fire protection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, fire pumps, and suppression systems, etc.

- Prepare and submit drawings and documentation to BOMBA (Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia) for approvals.

- Review and approve fire protection system drawings, specifications, and submittals.

- Conduct engineering calculations and analysis (e.g. hydraulic calculations and system modelling) to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.

- Conduct site inspections to assess system installation and functionality.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate fire protection into building designs

- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the design of fire protection systems.

- Perform fire and smoke modelling (Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD)) using tools such as Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS) and PyroSim, and conduct evacuation analysis using Pathfinder.

- Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to evaluate life safety, property protection, and code compliance.

- Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and project proposals

- Liaise with clients, design teams, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure fire safety objectives are achieved.

- Ensure compliance with local and international fire safety standards and regulations (e.g., UBBL 1984, MS, NFPA, FM Global, etc).

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Minimum two (2) years of experience in fire protection system design, preferably in fire safety consultancy, construction or related industries.

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering or equivalent.

- Ability to read and understand designs and schematics

- Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and drafting, Canute FHC for hydraulic calculation, Pyrosim for smoke modelling, Pathfinder for evacuation analysis.

- Knowledge of BOMBA regulations and submission procedures.

- Strong understanding of local & international fire codes and standards (e.g., UBBL, MS, NFPA, etc) and best practices.

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.

- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work
