We're looking for a strategic and visionary Software Engineering Manager to join our growing technology team in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia and report to the Head of Engineering. In this pivotal role, you will lead a talented team of engineers while driving technical excellence and business impact. You'll combine your deep engineering expertise with strong people leadership to build scalable systems, mentor high-performing teams, and shape the technical direction of our organization. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- You will lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers across different experience levels and technical specializations, fostering a collaborative and innovative engineering culture
- You will participate actively in code and design reviews to maintain high development standards and ensure architectural excellence
- You will partner with cross-functional leaders in product, design, and analytics to develop customer-focused product roadmaps and define success metrics
- You will develop and communicate the engineering strategy and key result targets for your team, with a focus on improving testability, availability, security, and code quality
- You will conduct quarterly planning sessions and build detailed execution plans to ensure smooth delivery of both product and engineering roadmaps
- You will attract, recruit, and retain top-tier engineering talent; actively develop career paths and growth opportunities for team members
- You will manage team staffing levels in alignment with evolving business needs and organizational priorities
- You will act as technical expert, effectively translating complex technical concepts for executive stakeholders and bridging communication between engineering teams and business partners
- You will define performance metrics and conduct regular performance reviews to drive accountability and continuous improvement
- You will analyze technical and organizational challenges, propose innovative solutions, and implement changes with resilience and decisiveness

What Essential Skills You Will Need
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years of direct people management experience leading teams of junior to lead-level engineers
- Advanced expertise in distributed systems, including high availability, performance optimization, and reliability engineering
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling complex engineering organizations
- Strong expertise in code and design review processes with the ability to maintain high technical standards
- Proven ability to manage full accountability for platform systems serving multiple use cases and products
- Define technology direction and propose innovative, scalable solutions.
- Experience developing product roadmaps and defining clear, customer-focused metrics.
- Experience managing high-scale, mission-critical systems using modern development practices and AI-assisted tooling.
- Familiarity with budget management, industry benchmarking, and competitive analysis.
