Junior Baker (Commis Baker)

We're looking for a Commis Baker to join our early-morning bake team at Pan パン by POPS EATERY. You'll work hands-on with our head baker producing sourdough, pastry, and buns fresh every day for our Mutiara Tropicana customers.

Pan パン by POPS EATERY is a bakery at Mutiara Tropicana focused on sourdough bread, pastries, and buns, baked fresh daily.

About the role

As our Commis Baker, you'll support the bake line from mixing through to finishing. Within a few months, you should be comfortable running your station independently — mixing, shaping, proofing, and baking our sourdough, pastry, and bun lines to recipe and to spec, every shift.

What you'll do

• Mix, shape, proof, and bake sourdough, pastry, and bun items following our recipes and SOPs
• Assist the head baker on the production line — laminating dough, shaping loaves, and filling/finishing pastries
• Monitor oven times and temperatures to keep every batch consistent
• Keep the bake station, equipment, and ingredients organized and within food safety standards
• Help with daily prep and stock checks so the next shift starts ready
• Follow all food handling, hygiene, and safety procedures

What we're looking for

Required

• Some hands-on baking experience — professional or otherwise — with sourdough, pastry, or bread
• Comfortable with early-morning shifts (approx. 4:00am–12:00pm), full-time
• Willing to work weekends and public holidays as needed for retail bakery operations
• Valid food handler's certification, or willing to obtain one before starting
• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable with physical, hands-on kitchen work

Preferred

• Prior experience as a commis baker, pastry assistant, or in a bakery/kitchen environment
• Familiarity with sourdough fermentation and shaping techniques
• SPM (or equivalent) and basic understanding of food safety standards

Compensation

RM1,700 – RM2,300 per month, depending on experience.

Schedule

8 hours a day, 6 days a week.
