The Team

This role sits within a global platform engineering team responsible for building and running cloud-based platforms and subscription services. The team operates at the core of the company’s digital ecosystem, enabling scalable, secure, and reliable delivery of applications and services used by millions of users.

Working in a highly collaborative, international environment, the team follows modern DevSecOps and platform engineering practices, with a strong focus on automation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

The Role

As a Software Engineer, you’ll design, build, and operate cloud-native solutions that form the foundation of the company’s digital platforms. You’ll take end-to-end ownership of components—from design through to deployment and operation—while contributing to architectural decisions and engineering standards.

You’ll work across backend services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and automation, helping to evolve a modern, scalable platform environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and operate cloud-native services, APIs, and platform components
• Contribute to system design, architecture discussions, and technical decisions
• Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines
• Improve system reliability, scalability, and performance
• Ensure high standards for security, testing, and code quality
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineering teams globally
• Support continuous improvement, including reducing technical debt and optimizing processes

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience in software engineering within cloud environments
• Hands-on expertise with AWS (or similar public cloud platforms)
• Experience building microservices and REST APIs
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and distributed systems
• Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot preferred) or similar backend technologies
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform)
• Comfortable working in agile, cross-functional teams with a high level of ownership

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Exposure to DevSecOps or Site Reliability Engineering practices
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and cost optimisation
• Interest in applying AI within the software development lifecycle

NB:- The role will initially be engaged on an external basis, requiring you to work as an independent / self-employed contractor through either a sole proprietorship or personal service/limited company. The plan is to transition to a permanent, employed position after the initial contract term.
