Job Summary
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machining programs to ensure efficient, accurate, and high-quality production. The role works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for milling, turning, drilling, and machining operations.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Perform program simulations and troubleshoot machining issues before production.
- Support machine setup and conduct first-piece inspections.
- Optimize cycle time, tool life, and machining efficiency.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes.
- Investigate machining defects and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain CNC program documentation and revision records.
- Assist in new product introduction (NPI) and process validation.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Provide technical guidance to CNC machinists and machine operators.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Precision Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in CNC programming within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CNC milling, turning, or machining centres.
- Experience in aluminium, automotive, aerospace, precision engineering, or metal fabrication industries is preferred.
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, NX CAM, PowerMill, Fusion 360).
- Knowledge of G-code and M-code programming.
- Able to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Familiar with CNC controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Haas.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, tooling selection, and fixture design.
- Understanding of machining processes and manufacturing best practices.
