Job Summary
The Workshop Assistant Manager supports the Workshop Manager in overseeing daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality workmanship, compliance with safety standards, and effective utilization of manpower and resources. The role involves supervising technicians, coordinating maintenance and repair activities, monitoring productivity, and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely completion of work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
- Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising daily workshop activities.
- Allocate jobs and resources efficiently to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Monitor workshop productivity and workflow to achieve operational targets.
- Ensure all repair, maintenance, and servicing activities are performed according to company standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Support the Workshop Manager in achieving departmental KPIs and business objectives.
2. Team Supervision
- Supervise workshop technicians, mechanics, and support staff.
- Provide technical guidance and operational support to workshop personnel.
- Monitor employee attendance, discipline, and performance.
- Assist in identifying training needs and developing staff competencies.
3. Quality Control
- Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed jobs.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and meets quality standards.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues and customer complaints related to workshop services.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop equipment and tools.
- Promote a safe working environment and conduct regular safety briefings.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate workshop records, service reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Prepare operational reports, productivity reports, and performance summaries as required.
- Assist in analyzing workshop performance and recommending improvements.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of workshop, maintenance, or service operations experience.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of workshop operations and maintenance procedures.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
