Overview

We are supporting a well-established manufacturing organisation in Malaysia that is entering its next phase of operational growth and optimisation.

The company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer / General Manager to lead and integrate multiple manufacturing sites within the country, driving performance, efficiency, and operational excellence.

This is a high-impact leadership role suited for a seasoned operations leader who thrives in hands-on environments and is experienced in managing complex plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end operations across multiple manufacturing sites in Malaysia
• Drive improvements in productivity, cost efficiency, and output quality
• Implement and strengthen operational excellence frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, CI initiatives)
• Oversee production, engineering, maintenance, quality, HSE, and supply chain functions
• Optimise plant performance (OEE, yield, throughput, downtime reduction)
• Lead plant integration, standardisation, and process alignment across sites
• Manage capex planning and execution for plant upgrades and expansion
• Build and develop a strong site leadership and operations team
• Ensure operational governance, compliance, and safety standards are consistently met
• Partner with senior leadership to align operations with business growth objectives

Ideal Profile

• 15+ years of experience in industrial / manufacturing environments
• Proven track record in a COO, GM, Operations Director, or Plant Director role
• Experience managing multiple plants/sites within a country
• Strong exposure to Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma
• Demonstrated ability to drive operational transformation and performance improvement
• Hands-on leader with strong problem-solving and execution capability
• Solid stakeholder management across engineering, production, and commercial teams
• Degree in Engineering or a related field (MBA is advantageous)
