Job Purpose:

• As a Junior Exadata Infrastructure Administrator, you will be a part of a growing international team based in Kuala Lumpur Center mainly supporting on-premise Exadata engineered systems. We are seeking candidates with wide range of expertise and skills in Exadata infrastructure field such as day-to-day administration, performance tuning, infiniBand network,ROCi infrastructure, storage cells configuration and monitoring, Backup/restore and other Exadata HW configuration know-how.

Key Activities:

• Exadata components Administration daily support and corresponding configuration according to vendors best practices.
• Receive alerts from Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control and monitor performance thresholds.
• Review system performance, CPU, memory and I/O on all Exadata nodes/VMs for unusual trends
• Apply Oracle Exadata System Software bundle patches or upgrades, and RDMA Network Fabric switch firmware upgrades.
• Apply Oracle Database patches, Oracle Grid Infrastructure patches or upgrades in cooperation with the Oracle Database admins.
• Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to Exadata infrastructure administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
• Connect to Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM), verify current system state, identify hardware issue or restart system, and review logs for root cause analysis.
• Inspect network interfaces for errors or dropped packets, check if any switches have restarted.
• Support system backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
• Configuration settings for Oracle Exadata database servers, InfiniBand Network Fabric switches, and other components have settings based on testing and performance criteria. Changing the configuration settings, such as database server firmware or kernel parameters, based on company policy or other reasons should be reviewed for the potential impact to Oracle Exadata.
• Create PHP, python, shell or perl scripting
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
• Configure cluster and non-cluster targets
• Allocate system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database provisioning and maintenance of storage disks and grid disks
• Configure storage disks for RAC implementation
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Qualifications/Skills:

Essential Skills

Sufficient and proven experience in Exadata infrastructure administration in particular:

• At least 5 years of experience working in Exadata infrastructure administration
• End to End implementation of Enterprise Manager plugins for Exadata
• hands-on experience in Exadata engineered systems storage cell administration maintenance tasks by using cellcli dcli utilities
• problem analysis resolution and error debugging including skills in raising support requests with vendors.
• experience in applying latest bundle patches for Exadata
• Good knowledge in Exadata monitoring by ILOM, KVM, and using Oracle Enterprise Manager
• profound skills in Oracle's HA availability solutions (Data Guard and RAC)
• Good knowledge in RMAN backup and recovery concepts
• Good expertise in working with Oracle Support to identify and resolve critical issues with utmost priority
• Capacity planning and space management analysis
• Oracle's ASM filesystem management profound knowledge
• expertise and knowledge of cell disks grid disks and ASM intelligent placement
• expertise and knowledge of InfiniBand network management tasks
• expertise and knowledge of Exadata smart storage capabilities, HCC, smart flash cache and Exadata storage indexes
• expertise in applying Exadata bundle patches, storage cells, InfiniBand switch patching
• expertise in implementation of IORM and intradatabase resource management
• expertise in configuring Exadata server metrics, thresholds and alerts
• profound expertise in using Exacheck, ADRCI, Imagehistory OSWatcher
