Position title: Commissioning Engineer (Data Centre)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically competent CX Engineer (Commissioning Engineer) to support the delivery of mission-critical Data Centre projects in Selangor. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, ELV, and critical systems to ensure successful project delivery in compliance with client specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate should possess strong experience in Data Centre commissioning, system testing, integrated testing, and handover processes within a main contractor environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and execute commissioning (CX) activities for Data Centre projects, ensuring systems are delivered according to design intent and project requirements.
• Coordinate with internal project teams, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and clients on commissioning schedules and deliverables.
• Review design drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and commissioning plans to ensure constructability and system readiness.
• Develop and monitor commissioning procedures, test scripts, inspection checklists, and integrated system testing (IST) requirements.
• Manage and coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and critical systems testing including:
• HVAC / Cooling Systems (CRAC/CRAH, Chillers, Cooling Towers)
• Electrical Systems (MV/LV, Transformers, UPS, Generators, Switchgear)
• Fire Protection & Detection Systems
• BMS / EPMS / DCIM Systems
• ELV and Security Systems
• Conduct pre-functional testing, functional testing, integrated system testing (IST), and performance validation.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project specifications, safety requirements, and QA/QC standards.
• Identify technical issues during commissioning and coordinate resolution with relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, testing records, punch lists, defect tracking, and handover documentation.
• Support project close-out activities, including O&M manuals, training, and final client handover.
• Monitor project progress and ensure commissioning milestones are achieved within project timelines.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commissioning, MEP engineering, or critical facilities projects.
• Prior experience in Data Centre projects is highly preferred.
• Experience working with Main Contractors, Mission Critical Facilities, Industrial Buildings, Semiconductor, or Hyperscale Data Centre projects will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with commissioning processes, integrated systems testing (IST), and critical environment operations.

Technical Competencies

• Strong understanding of MEP systems commissioning.
• Knowledge of UPS, Generator, HVAC, Chilled Water Systems, BMS, EPMS, Fire Alarm Systems, and critical infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with testing & commissioning procedures and QA/QC requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and project documentation tools.
