Job Role: Electrical Engineer – Data Center Operations

Experience: Minimum 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience in data center facilities operations, electrical/mechanical systems, or critical infrastructure environment with leadership exposure.
Applicant: Local Malaysian citizens preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze electrical systems including HV, MV, and LV infrastructure.
- Perform feasibility studies and testing for new designs and upgrades to existing systems.
- Work independently to develop new electrical designs, including all required calculations.
- Participate in design optimization and Testing & Commissioning (T&C) processes.
- Produce detailed design deliverables, including layouts, schematic diagrams, calculations, simulations, SOP, EOP, MOP, and T&C documentation.
- Monitor and manage maintenance activities to ensure the highest quality in planning, preparation, execution, and reporting.
- Ensure infrastructure reliability with focus on service continuity, energy efficiency, and budget constraints.
- Act as a problem solver for facilities-related issues, including efficiency, monitoring, and heat exchanger performance.
- Oversee and optimize data center operational efficiency, including PUE, DCIE, corrective maintenance costs, and lifecycle planning.
- Manage planned preventive maintenance programs and measure their effectiveness.
- Provide technical support for all aspects of data center operations, ensuring 24x7 availability, 100% uptime, and full SLA compliance.
- Conduct capacity planning, asset management validation, and resource management.
- Oversee onsite incident response, problem resolution, and change management processes to support client needs.
- Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, MOPs, ERP, and formal change control processes for critical environments.
- Oversee client-facing project deployments.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation in daily operations and engineering activities.
- Build and maintain trusted customer relationships within the operations team.
- Support regular audit activities by implementing policies and procedures to meet compliance requirements.
- Support the sales team on potential deals.
- Manage vendors and contractors to maximize effectiveness and efficiency, covering safety, cost, lead time, and reliability in line with data center best practices.
- Implement, enforce, maintain, and control workflows and operational processes within the data center.
Requirements
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Technology field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) at intermediate level.
- Able to work independently with strong leadership skills and be a team player.
- Experience in Data Center facilities operations and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience in Data Center project management and Testing & Commissioning (T&C).
- Self-driven, positive attitude, and a team player.
- Experienced in Data Center critical systems, including diesel generators, UPS systems, fuel systems, HT/LT switchgear, power distribution equipment, chillers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression systems, and building monitoring systems.
- Familiar with required Data Center compliance standards, including ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, ISO 50001, SS564, SOC 1/2, local authority requirements, and industry best practices.
- Experience in Data Center construction projects, including greenfield and brownfield developments, Uptime TIER topology design, and project management.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in relevant Facilities Management within Data Center Operations or certification from relevant Data Center professional training.
