ob Summary
Responsible to lead and manage the engineering team in supporting sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining operations, ensuring product manufacturability, cost efficiency, quality compliance and on-time delivery. The role also acts as a key technical interface between customer requirements and internal manufacturing capability.
Key Responsibilities1. Engineering Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach and develop engineering team to achieve departmental KPIs
- Assign tasks, monitor performance and ensure timely project execution
- Drive engineering standardization, documentation and best practices
- Lead continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives related to process, cost and quality
2. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Project Management
- Manage end-to-end NPI process from RFQ, feasibility study, prototyping to mass production
- Review customer drawings, specifications and technical requirements
- Ensure smooth project transfer from Engineering to Production
- Monitor project timeline, risk and resource allocation
3. Technical & Process Development
- Evaluate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for sheet metal and machining parts
- Develop and optimize processes (laser cutting, bending, welding, CNC machining, surface finishing)
- Define process flow, tooling requirements, work instructions and control plans
- Support cost estimation and cycle time analysis
4. Customer & Industrial CS Support
- Act as main technical contact for customers on engineering-related matters
- Support RFQ, quotation and technical clarification
- Handle Engineering Change Notice (ECN), deviation requests and customer complaints
- Work closely with Customer Service team on delivery, urgent orders and issue resolution
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Production, QA, Planning and Purchasing teams
- Ensure engineering solutions align with manufacturing capability and capacity
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) for quality and production issues (8D / Why-Why analysis)
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
6. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through design and process optimization
- Improve productivity, reduce scrap and enhance process efficiency
- Support automation and process improvement initiatives
Requirements (Academic, Skills & Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5–8 years experience in sheet metal fabrication / CNC machining / manufacturing industry
- Minimum 2–3 years in leadership / senior engineer role
- Strong knowledge in:
- Sheet metal processes (laser cutting, bending, welding, stamping)
- CNC machining (milling, turning, precision parts)
- Materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum)
- Strong understanding of DFM, GD&T, tolerance analysis and technical drawings
- Experience in NPI, RFQ costing and project management
- Familiar with CAD software (AutoCAD / SolidWorks) and ERP/MRP systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Good communication skills with internal teams and customers
- Able to communicate in Mandarin (to liaise with Mandarin-speaking customers/suppliers)
Pay: RM7,500.00 - RM8,500.00 per month
