Our client is an established manufacturing organisation with operations in Malaysia, supporting large-scale industrial production and serving both domestic and regional markets. They are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead plant engineering, maintenance, and reliability functions.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in chemical process manufacturing, process manufacturing, or similar industrial plant environments
• Strong technical experience in:
• Plant machinery reliability and maintenance management
• Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and infrastructure maintenance
• Preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA), breakdown troubleshooting, and corrective action implementation
• Utilities and energy consumption monitoring / optimisation
• CAPEX project execution and engineering project management
• Engineering stores, spare parts planning, and procurement technical support
• Maintenance budgeting, cost control, and engineering reporting
• Regulatory compliance including safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Strong technical leadership, supervisory, and team management experience
• Analytical, independent, proactive, and solution-driven mindset
• Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and maintenance functions to maximise plant machinery availability, system reliability, and operational efficiency
• Oversee all plant maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, utilities, and infrastructure systems
• Monitor daily engineering performance to ensure optimal equipment uptime and plant operations
• Plan, organise, and execute engineering works and technical requirements across operational departments
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programmes to minimise breakdowns and improve plant reliability
• Conduct root cause analysis for major breakdowns and implement corrective / preventive actions to prevent recurrence
• Monitor plant energy and utility consumption, identifying opportunities for optimisation, innovation, and cost savings
• Prepare engineering reports including maintenance performance, utility consumption, inventory status, and CAPEX progress for management review
• Manage maintenance budgets, repair & maintenance expenditure, and engineering stock / inventory controls
• Execute approved CAPEX projects in line with required specifications, timelines, and budget expectations
• Review engineering material requirements and provide technical guidance to procurement for accurate purchasing decisions
• Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, safety, environmental, and operational standards, including audit readiness
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and operational effectiveness
