The Senior M&E Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works on construction projects. This role ensures that M&E systems are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with specifications, authority requirements, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Lead and coordinate all M&E works with internal teams (civil, architectural) and subcontractors
- Review M&E drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Identify design conflicts and resolve via coordination meetings
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and authorities for approvals
2. Site Execution & Supervision
- Monitor site progress and ensure works follow approved drawings and schedule
- Supervise subcontractors’ installation works (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, etc.)
- Ensure quality of installation meets project specifications and standards
- Conduct inspections and testing of M&E systems
3. Technical & Design Review
- Review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and technical submissions
- Provide technical solutions to site issues and design discrepancies
- Coordinate with design consultants for any changes or improvements
4. Testing & Commissioning
- Plan and oversee testing & commissioning (T&C) activities
- Ensure all systems are tested according to authority and project requirements
- Prepare and verify T&C reports and documentation
5. Cost & Contract Management
- Monitor M&E work progress against budget and schedule
- Evaluate subcontractor claims and variation orders (VO)
- Assist in procurement of M&E materials and subcontract packages
6. Authority & Compliance
- Liaise with relevant authorities (e.g., TNB, BOMBA, local council)
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, codes, and standards
- Support inspections and authority approvals
7. Safety & Quality Control
- Ensure all M&E works comply with site safety requirements
- Work closely with Safety Officer to enforce HSE practices
- Implement QA/QC procedures and documentation
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare progress reports, technical reports, and site records
- Maintain proper documentation for all M&E activities
- Attend site meetings and update stakeholders on progress/issues
RequirementsEducation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years experience in building construction (main contractor preferred)
- Experience in high-rise, commercial, or mixed development projects
- Exposure to full project cycle (from construction to handover)
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
