About iHandal Energy Solutions

iHandal Energy Solutions is a Malaysian sustainable engineering company focused on helping commercial and industrial clients improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and lower carbon emissions.

Founded in 2009, iHandal provides turnkey sustainable engineering solutions — with customised Mechanical & Electrical systems across water heating, process cooling, air conditioning, and waste heat recovery applications. The company is known for its proprietary HeatFuse technology, which captures and repurposes wasted heat, helping clients improve energy performance and operational savings.

Today, iHandal serves clients across sectors including hospitality, healthcare, residential, and industrial manufacturing, with solutions deployed across Malaysia and the wider Asia Pacific region.

About the Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to be the connective tissue of our project delivery team — the person who keeps plans, people, and progress aligned from the first site visit to final handover.

No two days look the same in this role. You will start the morning syncing with the internal team to understand what is happening on site, align with the Senior Manager, Procurement, and field teams on priorities, and spend the rest of the day moving across site visits, planning sessions, customer touchpoints, and document submissions. The throughline in all of it is communication — making sure the right information reaches the right people at the right time, so that nothing catches anyone by surprise.

This is a role for someone who is technically grounded, genuinely proactive, and thrives in an environment where things move fast and every day requires you to think on your feet.

Compensation

RM 6,000 – RM 9,000 per month, commensurate with experience.

Why iHandal

We are a growing company, which means the people who join us now will shape how we scale. You will not be slotted into a rigid structure — you will have real ownership of your projects and the autonomy to make decisions without layers of bureaucracy slowing you down.

You will work on a diverse mix of projects — commercial and industrial, across sectors and environments — which means you will develop faster here than you would in a single-sector role. You will also be part of a team that genuinely cares about the quality of its work and the relationships it builds, with clients and with each other.

iHandal is also a company with a mission that means something. Every project we deliver contributes to a measurable reduction in energy waste and carbon emissions — and you will see that impact directly in the work you do.

Why This Role Matters

A HeatFuse installation is not a simple job. It involves custom M&E systems, multi-party coordination across procurement, engineering, and on-site technicians, and a client who is depending on the system being live on schedule. A delay does not just affect a timeline — it affects a client’s operations, their energy costs, and their trust in iHandal.

The Project Engineer is the person who holds all of that together — from the first coordination call to the final commissioning handover. Without this role done well, even the best engineering work can fall apart in execution.

What You Will Be Responsible For

1. Project Planning, Scheduling and Team Alignment

You will develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and milestone trackers — and hold the team accountable to them. Each day starts with aligning the Senior Manager, Procurement, and on-site teams on priorities and latest site developments, so everyone has what they need and no update falls through the cracks. You will identify resource needs early, flag schedule risks before they become delays, and adapt plans when the unexpected happens. Timely communication is not optional in this role — it is the job.

2. Site Visits and On-Site Execution

You will be on site regularly — reviewing progress, ensuring work is carried out to specification and safety standards, resolving issues on the ground, and maintaining a clear picture of what is actually happening versus what the plan says.

3. Client and Stakeholder Management

You will be a key point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle — providing regular updates, managing expectations, and ensuring that every interaction reinforces their confidence in iHandal. You will also work closely with the Account Management team to share progress updates, flag potential issues, and surface new business opportunities where relevant.

4. Documentation and Submissions

You will prepare, manage, and submit all required project documentation — functional specifications, progress reports, compliance documents, and handover records — to the standard required by clients, regulators, and internal management.

5. Risk and Budget Management

You will actively monitor project risks and scope changes, develop contingency plans, and track spending against approved budgets. When variances arise, you will escalate them quickly and come with a proposed solution, not just a problem.

What You Will Need to Have

1. Knowledge

• A solid understanding of project delivery fundamentals — planning, scheduling, risk management, and budget tracking.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.

• Exposure to HVAC, M&E, energy systems, or industrial engineering projects is an advantage.

2. Skills

• Strong coordination and follow-through — you can manage multiple workstreams without dropping the ball.

• Clear, confident communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia — written and verbal.

• Solid documentation skills — reports, specs, and submissions that are accurate and professionally presented.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with project management tools or CAD is an advantage.

3. Ability

• Able to work across engineering, operations, procurement, and client-facing teams without losing the thread.

• Able to stay composed and solution-oriented under pressure.

• Able to take ownership of a project and deliver without needing to be pushed.

• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across Malaysia.

4. Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• 3–5 years of experience in project engineering, site coordination, or a related technical role.

• PMP certification is optional but highly valued.

How Success Will Be Measured

In this role, you will be performing well when:

• Projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

• Site works are executed correctly, safely, and to the required standard.

• Risks and issues are flagged early — before they become problems.

• Clients are kept informed and confident throughout the project.

• Documentation and submissions are accurate, complete, and on time.

• The Account Management team is looped in on project developments and potential opportunities.

Who This Role Is For

This role is for someone who genuinely enjoys the rhythm of a project — the early-morning coordination calls, the site visits, the problem-solving, and the satisfaction of watching something complex come together on schedule.

You care about quality and communication in equal measure. You understand that delivering a great project is as much about how you manage relationships and information as it is about the technical work itself.

If you are someone who gets energy from being in the middle of things, takes ownership naturally, and is ready to grow into a Project Manager role as the business scales — we would like to hear from you.
