JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Solar Design Engineer to join our growing renewable energy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and coordinating solar PV projects for residential, commercial, and industrial installations while ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and within budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning

• Develop comprehensive project plans, including tasks, timelines, and milestones.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to understand project requirements and constraints.
• Identify critical paths and potential bottlenecks, proposing practical solutions to ensure timely project completion.
• Coordinate and liaise with skylift/crane operators, lorry providers, suppliers, and other relevant parties for site installation activities.

Design Coordination

• Conduct site visits, audits, and meetings to collect structural, electrical, and related information required for solar PV system design.
• Prepare design proposals for grid-connected solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Create PV layouts, electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and connection diagrams using CAD software.
• Prepare and compile technical documents and drawings for tender submissions.

Bills of Quantity (BoQ) Preparation

• Generate accurate Bills of Quantity (BoQ) detailing materials, labor, and other required resources.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure resource availability.
• Review and validate BoQs to minimize discrepancies and cost overruns.

Cost Estimation

• Assist in project cost estimation by providing accurate data on manpower, materials, and project-related expenses.
• Support budget control and cost management efforts together with the finance and project teams.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain proper records of project plans, manpower allocation, and BoQs.
• Prepare regular project progress reports, highlighting key updates, challenges, and risks.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO 9001:2015 requirements, and industry standards.
• Keep updated with the latest solar technologies, Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations, and government policies/incentives related to renewable energy.
• Attend client meetings for technical discussions and presentations.
• Manage project documentation and filing systematically.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Computer literate and proficient in software such as AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project, PVsyst, Helioscope, and SketchUp
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Able to work at height and travel to project sites when required.
• Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
• Independent, resourceful, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Possess own transport and a valid driving license.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Renewable Energy, or equivalent.
• GCPV certification is an added advantage.
• Preferably 1–2 years of relevant working experience in the solar PV industry.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: RM2,800.00 - RM3,800.00 per month
