Project Engineer & Planner (Contract)

Location: Kerteh, Terengganu (first 2 months), then relocate to next project site within Peninsular Malaysia
Job Type: Contract, full-time (project-based)
Start: As soon as possible

About the Role

You will plan and manage assigned projects end-to-end from preparing schedule, cost, quality, and safety, so each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full project lifecycle: design review, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Develop and control project schedules (Gantt/MS Project), resources, and deliverables; track progress and variances.
• Monitor fabrication/site works against approved drawings/specifications, quality requirements, ISO standards, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate across engineering, procurement, vendors, and subcontractors; maintain clear, timely communication with all stakeholders.
• Prepare weekly/bi-weekly/monthly reports per client/project requirements; highlight progress, risks, and mitigations.
• Manage day-to-day site operations, tools/equipment readiness, and materials sufficiency to ensure smooth execution.
• Verify subcontractor progress and supplier invoices; support cost monitoring and progress claims.
• Provide technical support to clients and subcontractors; initiate corrective actions on engineering deliverables when needed.
• Support recruitment of general workers (permanent/contract) where required.
• Support ad-hoc project tasks and special assignments as required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma/Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
• ≥ 2 years relevant experience (project engineering; planning & scheduling).
• Knowledge of construction safety regulations and procedures.
• Strong organisation, communication (English & Bahasa Malaysia), and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Problem-solving, accountability, leadership, and teamwork; proactive and independent.
• Tools: AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Advantages: ISO standards exposure; proficiency with AutoCAD/SolidWorks; simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink).
• Willing to travel and work outstation across Peninsular Malaysia.
