The role is primarily database-focused, covering complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development, performance engineering, data integrity, technical troubleshooting, and solution delivery. Working knowledge of Java backend technologies is required to support effective analysis and collaboration across database, application, and integration layers.
Banking and Wealth Lending experience is strongly preferred. Relevant functional exposure may include:
Wealth lending products and customer servicing processes.
Loan origination, approval, booking, disbursement, repayment, and lifecycle servicing.
Credit assessment, limits, interest calculations, fees, and repayment schedules.
Collateral, security, and relationship-based lending concepts.
Customer, account, facility, and transaction data used across lending platforms.
Banking security, auditability, regulatory controls, data retention, and operational risk requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain Oracle database solutions supporting Wealth Lending platforms and related lending capabilities.
Develop and enhance complex SQL, PL/SQL Packages, Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, Materialized Views, and data-processing components.
Translate business and technical requirements into reliable, secure, scalable, and maintainable database solutions.
Analyse SQL execution plans, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement query, indexing, database-object, and processing improvements.
Investigate complex system issues across database, Java application, interface, and integration layers, and document root causes and corrective actions.
Improve application stability, database efficiency, transaction throughput, batch performance, and response times through proactive engineering.
Collaborate with Java backend engineers to assess JDBC usage, connection management, transaction boundaries, and database interaction patterns.
Participate in solution design, impact assessment, code review, testing, release readiness, implementation, and post-deployment validation.
Develop and execute unit test plans, maintain evidence, and ensure solutions comply with approved specifications and acceptance criteria.
Prepare technical documentation covering database design, data flows, implementation decisions, deployment steps, and operational considerations.
Follow applicable bank engineering standards, secure coding practices, change governance, audit controls, and Agile delivery practices.
Contribute to modernization, automation, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives across Wealth Lending platforms.
Skills and Experience
Must Have
Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development skills, including Packages, Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, Materialized Views, and complex data-processing logic.
Strong expertise in query optimization, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, database performance tuning, and high-volume transaction processing.
Solid understanding of Oracle database design, data modelling, normalization, transaction management, locking, concurrency, and data integrity controls.
Experience analysing and resolving complex technical issues across database and application layers, including root cause analysis and preventive improvement.
Experience with Oracle diagnostic and performance tools such as Explain Plan, AWR, and ASH.
Knowledge of Java backend applications, JDBC, connection pooling, and database interaction patterns used by Java services.

Hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, unit testing, integration, release, and technical documentation.
Experience collaborating with application engineers, database administrators, architects, integration teams, testing teams, and business stakeholders.
Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain database designs and technical findings clearly.
Nice to Have

Experience with IBM MQ, JMS, Kafka, queues, topics, or enterprise integration platforms.
Knowledge of Git, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational database technologies.
Experience with Oracle partitioning, batch-processing optimization, database monitoring, and capacity considerations.
Experience delivering within Agile methodologies and contributing to continuous engineering improvement.
