Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to oversee the school's overall finance and accounting operations, reporting to the GM and Board of Directors.

The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls, sound cash flow management, timely statutory compliance and efficient finance processes. The Finance Manager provides financial insights and support to management in budgeting, forecasting, decision-making and long-term financial planning, while ensuring that the school's financial activities are conducted in accordance with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements and internal policies.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Accounting

• Oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting operations and ensure transactions are accurately and timely recorded.

• Review and ensure the accuracy of bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and other accounting records.

• Review student fee invoicing, fee reconciliation and outstanding receivables, and implement appropriate measures to improve collection.

• Monitor the school's cash position, cash flow requirements and working capital to ensure sufficient funds are available for operations.

• Review and approve payments and cash disbursements in accordance with approved procedures.

• Ensure proper segregation of duties and adequate financial controls are maintained across finance processes.

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure financial records are complete and accurate.


Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial statements, cash flow reports and other financial reports for management and the Board.

• Analyse financial performance against budget and forecast, and highlight significant variances, risks and trends.

• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management to support business and operational decisions.


Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process in collaboration with management and relevant departments.

• Prepare and maintain financial forecasts and cash flow projections, and monitor actual performance against approved budgets.

• Support management in developing strategies to improve financial sustainability and cost efficiency.

Audit, Tax & Statutory Compliance

• Coordinate the annual audit process and act as the primary finance contact for external auditors.

• Oversee compliance with applicable Malaysian statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax, EPF, SOCSO, EIS and other relevant obligations.

• Ensure statutory submissions and payments are completed accurately and within required deadlines.


Financial Controls & Risk Management

• Establish, review and strengthen financial policies, procedures and internal controls.

• Identify financial risks, control weaknesses and potential compliance issues, and recommend corrective actions.

• Review unusual, high-value or non-routine transactions and escalate significant matters to management.


Team & Stakeholder Management

• Supervise, guide and support finance team members in carrying out their responsibilities effectively.

• Provide training and guidance to finance staff on accounting procedures, internal controls and statutory requirements.

• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks, regulators and other external stakeholders on behalf of the finance function.


Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent is an advantage.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, with experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.

• Good knowledge of Malaysian statutory and tax requirements, including EPF, SOCSO, EIS and


PCB/MTD.

• Experience managing external audits and liaising with auditors and tax agents.

• Experience with accounting software such as Xero or similar systems is an advantage.

• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.

• Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.

• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and exercise sound professional judgement.
