Job Description & Job Scope

Position Summary

The Planner in PMC (Production Material Control) is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities and material flow to ensure customer orders are delivered on time, at optimal cost, and with efficient use of resources. This role bridges Sales, Production, Procurement, and Warehouse.

Core Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and capacity.
• Balance demand against available capacity (manpower, machine, materials) to create achievable plans.
• Release work orders to production and monitor progress against the schedule.
• Adjust schedules to accommodate urgent orders, engineering changes, or disruptions.

2. Material Planning & Control

• Calculate material requirements (MRP) based on production plans and bill of materials (BOM).
• Raise purchase requisitions and coordinate with Procurement to ensure timely material availability.
• Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages (line-down) or excess (overstock).
• Track and manage slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory.

3. Order Management & Delivery

• Review and confirm delivery commitments with Sales/Customer Service.
• Monitor order fulfillment and proactively flag potential delays.
• Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, and Logistics to ensure on-time shipment (OTD).

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Liaise with Sales, Production, Procurement, Warehouse, and Quality teams daily.
• Chair or participate in production meetings (e.g., daily/weekly scheduling reviews).
• Escalate critical issues (material shortages, capacity constraints) to management.

5. Data Analysis & Reporting

• Maintain planning data in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics).
• Generate reports: production attainment, inventory turns, OTD, backlog, capacity utilization.
• Analyze trends and recommend improvements to planning processes.
