Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and responsible Technician HOD to lead and supervise our technical team in the Northern Region, with Penang as the main location.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing technician performance, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, providing technical guidance, handling customer issues and ensuring all service and repair jobs are completed properly and on time.

This position is suitable for a technically strong individual with experience in refrigeration, air-conditioning, F&B equipment or commercial equipment, who is ready to take the next step into a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and coordinate the Northern Region technician team.
• Assign and monitor service, repair and maintenance jobs.
• Diagnose equipment faults and identify the root cause of breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Provide technical guidance and support to technicians during difficult service cases.
• Monitor technician performance, job progress and service quality.
• Handle customer technical complaints and determine the appropriate course of action.
• Follow up on customer issues until the equipment is properly repaired and the problem is resolved.
• Conduct site visits and provide on-site technical support when required.
• Ensure service reports, job records and troubleshooting information are properly documented.
• Ensure technicians follow company SOP, safety requirements and service standards.
• Take ownership and responsibility for the team's assigned jobs and overall service performance.

Technical Skills: Refrigeration

• Good understanding of refrigeration systems and components.
• Able to troubleshoot refrigeration systems used in ice machines, chillers and other cooling equipment.
• Able to identify issues involving compressor, condenser, evaporator, refrigerant system and related components.

Electrical

Able to troubleshoot and check:

• Sensors
• Relay
• Contactor
• Overload
• Control board / PCB
• Wiring
• Motor
• Electrical components

Leadership & Management

• Lead and develop technicians within the Northern Region.
• Monitor technician performance and work progress.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior technicians.
• Ensure technicians complete assigned jobs according to the required standards.
• Make appropriate decisions and take responsibility for technical issues under the team's scope.

Customer Service & Problem Solving

• Respond professionally to customer technical complaints and urgent breakdowns.
• Understand customer problems and determine the appropriate technical action.
• Coordinate with technicians to ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
• Maintain good customer relationships throughout the service process.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience in Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration, F&B Equipment or Commercial Equipment is preferred.
• Experience with ice machines, refrigeration systems or F&B equipment will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and refrigeration systems.
• Previous experience supervising or leading technicians is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work independently and make appropriate technical decisions.
• Responsible, reliable and able to take full ownership of assigned work.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Willing to travel within the Northern Region when required.
• Possess a valid driving licence.

Compensation

Salary: RM4,000 – RM5,000 per month

Additional allowances and benefits may be provided according to company policy and job requirements.

Main Location: Penang / Northern Region
