We are looking for a Data Engineer (Consultant) to join a public-sector data team, supporting the development, operation and continuous improvement of enterprise data products and platforms.

You will work across data engineering, business intelligence, data architecture and platform operations, helping business teams leverage trusted data for strategy, policy and decision-making.

What You’ll Do

Data Engineering & Platform Operations

• Build, maintain and optimise data pipelines that integrate data from multiple sources
• Monitor production data jobs and pipelines, investigate failures and perform recovery where required
• Troubleshoot technical issues including connectivity failures, API timeouts and service failures
• Test data pipelines and develop unit tests and mock datasets to support reliable releases
• Optimise pipeline performance, reliability and scalability
• Review pipelines to ensure compliance with data management standards, policies and procedures

Business Intelligence & Analytics

• Integrate, transform and structure data for analytics and reporting use cases
• Develop interactive dashboards and reports to support operational and strategic decision-making
• Work with Data Scientists to source, prepare and operationalise data for analytical models
• Develop reporting to monitor platform usage, performance and security events
• Apply good dashboard UX and data visualisation practices to make insights clear and actionable

Cloud, DevOps & Infrastructure

• Set up and maintain CI/CD and DevOps pipelines for data products
• Support cloud transformation and modernisation initiatives
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on platform, connectivity and environment requirements
• Review and implement remediation for identified security vulnerabilities
• Support infrastructure and administration activities across data platforms where required

Architecture, Governance & Technical Support

• Contribute to scalable data architecture for analytics and reporting requirements
• Research, propose and document technical requirements and solution approaches
• Maintain technical documentation covering data sources, pipelines, accounts and configuration changes
• Support data quality, governance and security requirements
• Provide technical support and consultancy to business users and product teams

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering or IT Infrastructure
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL for analysing, transforming and integrating data
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Experience developing dashboards using Amazon QuickSight, Tableau or similar BI tools
• Good understanding of dashboard UX, data visualisation and reporting principles
• Experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting production data pipelines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities in a delivery-focused environment
• Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents preferred

Good to Have

• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Experience with DevOps tooling and CI/CD, including SHIP-HATS or equivalent
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools
• Experience with PowerShell
• Exposure to IT infrastructure including server, database or network administration
• Experience administering Tableau Server, Talend, Microsoft SQL Server or SAS Viya
• Relevant certifications in any of the above platforms or technologies
• Experience working in Agile or other rapid application development environments
• Previous experience delivering data solutions within government, public-sector or regulated environments
