Lead Electrical Engineer – Data Centre Infrastructure

Location: Singapore – fully on-site

Employment: Permanent

Salary: Competitive / dependent on experience

Work client-side on a major mission-critical infrastructure programme in Singapore, developing, reviewing and improving HV/MV/LV electrical systems from design through commissioning and handover.

This role combines electrical design, technical assurance and system optimisation across switchgear, transformers and large-scale power infrastructure.

About the role

This is a client-side Lead Electrical Engineer role supporting a major data centre infrastructure programme in Singapore.

You will develop, review, challenge and improve HV/MV/LV electrical designs, studies and technical solutions, working across the project lifecycle from design through commissioning and handover.

This is primarily an electrical design and technical engineering role rather than a facilities maintenance position.

You will sit between the client, consultants, contractors, vendors and internal project teams, ensuring electrical systems are technically robust, compliant, resilient and ready for commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and assure HV, MV and LV electrical system designs, including AIS and GIS switchgear solutions.
• Support the development and improvement of electrical infrastructure solutions covering switchgear, transformers, energy storage, microgrids and large-scale AC/DC power systems.
• Develop and review electrical studies and calculations, including grounding, CT sizing, voltage drop, protection coordination and wider power-system studies.
• Review and challenge drawings, specifications, design packs, technical submissions and vendor documentation for technical quality, coordination and compliance.
• Identify design risks and propose improvements covering reliability, cost, programme, energy efficiency and operational performance.
• Provide clear technical direction during design meetings and help consultants, contractors and vendors resolve complex engineering issues.
• Support construction, commissioning, defect resolution, punch-list closure and final technical handover.
• Contribute to updates of owner standards, specifications and technical requirements as design improvements are identified.
• Maintain clear technical records, issue trackers and close-out documentation.

Requirements

You should bring a strong electrical engineering background, including experience in several of the following areas:

• Electrical engineering experience across MV/LV power distribution, ideally with exposure to HV systems.
• Experience developing and/or reviewing electrical designs for major infrastructure, industrial or mission-critical environments.
• Good knowledge of switchgear, transformers and associated electrical distribution systems.
• Experience with electrical studies such as grounding, voltage drop, protection coordination, CT sizing, load flow or short-circuit analysis.
• Ability to review consultant, contractor and vendor designs and challenge technical decisions when required.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary stakeholders through design, construction, commissioning or handover.

Useful experience includes:

• Data centres or other mission-critical infrastructure
• Energy storage or microgrids
• Owner-side or consultant-side design assurance
• Singapore Standards, IEC, IEEE or ANSI/NEMA
• Commissioning, FAT/SAT or project handover

Relevant backgrounds may include data centres, utilities, substations, semiconductor facilities, rail power, defence or other large-scale mission-critical electrical environments.
