Role Overview

Support the Compliance Operations function in delivering accurate, timely and high-quality regulatory, management, Board, Group and Regional reporting, while promoting an ethics-based and compliance-driven culture across the organisation. The role coordinates compliance governance activities, risk and maturity assessments, training and awareness, compliance systems and data quality, whistleblowing channel support, departmental initiatives and stakeholder responses. The incumbent will also contribute approximately 20% of their capacity to Compliance Assurance activities, providing administrative and execution support while building broader compliance and assurance capabilities.

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare, coordinate and maintain accurate and timely reports, papers, dashboards and management information for Bank Negara Malaysia, Management, the Board and relevant governance committees, including RC, EXCO and KRT, as required.
• Coordinate and support Group and Regional compliance initiatives and reporting, including bi-monthly Group reporting (QCR), Compliance Risk Assessments (CRA), Group Maturity Assessments and the Zurich Compliance Program (ZCP) review.
• Coordinate inputs and consolidate responses from the Compliance Unit, perform completeness and quality checks, and follow up with relevant stakeholders to meet internal, Group, Regional and regulatory timelines.
• Coordinate compliance training and awareness activities, including preparing or maintaining training materials, supporting implementation, tracking completion and preparing status updates for management and relevant stakeholders.
• Support the maintenance and periodic testing of the whistleblowing channel, including documentation, coordination with relevant stakeholders and follow-up of identified actions, in accordance with applicable requirements and procedures.
• Maintain the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of data in the COSMO compliance system and related trackers, and support data-quality monitoring against the team’s key performance indicators.
• Support the implementation of Compliance strategies, annual plans, governance activities, policies, processes and controls in alignment with business priorities, regulatory requirements and Group or Regional expectations.
• Drive and support continuous improvement, digitalisation, automation and responsible use of AI to enhance reporting, coordination, data management and other Compliance Operations processes.
• Allocate approximately 20% of working capacity to Compliance Assurance activities, including planning, coordination, documentation, evidence management, tracking and other execution support under the direction of the Assurance function.
• Provide coordination and administrative support to the Chief Compliance Officer and the wider Compliance department, including departmental planning, meetings, presentations, action tracking and ad-hoc initiatives.
• Maintain clear and audit-ready documentation, records, trackers and working papers, while handling sensitive or confidential information appropriately.
• Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to support departmental objectives and ongoing regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Compliance or a related discipline.
• Preferably 1–2 years of relevant experience in compliance, risk management, audit, governance, insurance, takaful or financial services. Candidates with strong internship or graduate experience may also be considered.
• Basic understanding of insurance and/or takaful laws, regulations, compliance principles, governance practices and operational processes would be beneficial.
• Strong written communication, reporting and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate materials for Management, Board, regulatory and Group or Regional audiences.
• Good analytical, coordination and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and follow through on actions within agreed timelines.
• Detail-oriented, organised, proactive and able to exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive or confidential information.
• Good written and spoken communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with reporting dashboards, workflow tools, automation or AI-enabled productivity tools would be an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and support Compliance Assurance activities as part of the role’s broader development pathway.
