Establish, review, and execute the Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) specifically tailored for substation civil works, structural framing, and high-voltage electrical installations.
Review, approve, and enforce Method Statements and Material Review Requests (MRR) from subcontractors to ensure alignment with client specifications.
Compile the comprehensive quality dossiers, including Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) reports, needed for the final handover to the client and utility provider (e.g., Tenaga Nasional Berhad - TNB).
Witness and inspect the installation, grounding, and cabling of critical electrical components such as transformers, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS), protection relays, and battery rooms.
Oversee the quality of substation building foundations, transformer bays, firewalls, cable trenches, and structural steel structures.
Inspect incoming materials to ensure all high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment matches approved engineering drawings, datasheets, and local regulatory certifications.
Issue, track, and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCR). Conduct root-cause analysis to prevent recurring engineering or installation defects.
Perform regular quality audits on subcontractors and vendors to ensure strict compliance with ISO 9001 standards and data center design blueprints.
Actively witness and verify pre-commissioning checks, insulation resistance tests, hipot testing, and protection relay testing prior to energization.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering (Electrical is highly preferred due to the nature of substation equipment).
Minimum 4 to 7 years of QA/QC experience in high-voltage substations (preferably 132kV / 275kV / 500kV systems) or heavy industrial infrastructure.
Strong familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE) and local Malaysian grid/utility guidelines (TNB guidelines, Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations).
