Role Description The Cyber Security Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Petaling Jaya. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls across applications, networks, and information systems. Day-to-day tasks include performing vulnerability assessments, monitoring security events, investigating incidents, and recommending remediation measures. The Cyber Security Engineer will collaborate with IT and development teams to embed security best practices, support compliance efforts, and assist in security awareness initiatives. The role also involves documenting security procedures, updating configurations in line with emerging threats, and contributing to continuous improvement of the overall security posture.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Application Security and Cybersecurity to secure software, systems, and services end-to-end.
- Candidates should possess skills in Network Security and Information Security to protect infrastructure, data, and access across environments.
- Candidates should possess skills in Vulnerability Assessment to identify, analyze, and prioritize security weaknesses for remediation.
- Relevant experience with security tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection), firewalls, and encryption technologies is beneficial.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS controls) and secure development practices is advantageous.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar are an added advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams are important.
