What You'll Do

As an Accountant based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with managing general ledger reporting for various entities within the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining full sets of accounts, overseeing monthly closings, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and supporting business unit reporting. You will play a key role in reviewing purchase orders and cheques prepared by your team members, evaluating retrofit costing proposals, clearing accounts accurately, participating in quarterly stock takes as well as annual audits. Budget preparation and outlook forecasting form part of your remit alongside monitoring projects to ensure correct accounting treatment. Compiling annual tax filing information is also essential. Supervising Senior Accounts Executives and Accounts Executives allows you to foster a collaborative atmosphere where knowledge sharing is encouraged. You will interact regularly with internal stakeholders across departments to resolve queries efficiently while contributing ideas for process improvement within the Finance function. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, commitment to deadlines, and a passion for continuous learning.

  • You will perform the full spectrum of general ledger functions required to maintain comprehensive sets of accounts for assigned entities.
  • You will be responsible for executing monthly closing processes, conducting variance analysis, preparing detailed monthly financial reports, and supporting business unit reporting requirements.
  • You will review purchase orders and cheques prepared by the team, assess retrofit costing proposals, and ensure accurate clearance of accounts.
  • You will participate actively in quarterly stock takes and annual audits, contributing to the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
  • You will assist in the preparation of budgets and outlooks, providing valuable input into financial planning processes.
  • You will monitor projects closely to ensure proper accounting treatment and timely reporting of project-related financials.
  • You will compile information required for annual tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • You will supervise Senior Accounts Executives and Accounts Executives, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • You will liaise with internal stakeholders across departments to resolve accounting queries efficiently and maintain harmonious working relationships.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate for the Accountant position brings substantial commercial experience from either Big 4 or medium-sized accounting firms over several years. Your academic background includes at least a Professional Certificate or higher qualification in Finance/Accountancy/Banking or related fields. You have demonstrated reliability under pressure by consistently meeting deadlines without compromising on quality. Your interpersonal skills enable you to build trust among colleagues while nurturing a supportive team environment. Analytical thinking combined with meticulous attention ensures accuracy across all aspects of general ledger management.   • A proven track record with commercial experience gained over 3-4 years in Big 4 or medium-sized accounting firms is preferred for this role.
